I was sick of never finding time to exercise, so I made one, important change.
There’s never enough time for me to exercise. I have three children, a job, a house, a cat… all my time is sucked up by other’s needs. Which is fine. I love it. I love my kids and I love my job, I love my house and I even love my cat.
But it was getting to a point where at the end of every day, no matter how much I had achieved, I felt like a total failure, because I hadn’t found time to exercise.
Exercise makes me feel amazing. It gives me energy, makes me feel happy and improves my health. And do you know what else? I know so many women my age battling serious illnesses – different cancers, lupus, thyroid issues – and I’ve never felt so grateful to have my health. My friends would give anything to be able get up and go for a run, to do some pushups and play with their kids. So I plan to do it all, for them and for me.
It turns out all I had to do was make one, small change. Instead of waiting for utopia-like conditions during which I had 2-3 hour window during which to change into cool gym gear, do a full one hour work out, shower and then get dressed, I decided to squeeze in any exercise I could at any time, and to use time with my children as opportunities for us all to exercise together.
