Hillary Clinton smashes history, claims victory in US Presidential primary.

It’s the news we’ve been biting our nails for months over, Hillary Clinton has just claimed victory in the the US Presidential Democratic primary.

In a historic moment for women the world over, at her rally in New York City today, the 68-year-old claimed victory after securing the delegate votes to win the nomination.

“This is a milestone, the first woman in history that will be elected President,” Clinton said to the crowd of thousands.

You can watch Hillary talk about being a feminist below. Post continues after video.

“Donald Trump is temperamentally unfit to be president and he’s not just trying to build a wall between and Mexico. When he says let’s make am great again – that’s code for: let’s take America backwards. Back to a time where opportunity and dignity was reserved for some – not all. We want to write the next chapter in American greatness with a 21st century prosperity that lifts everyone who has been left out and left behind.”

“When Donald Trump says a distinguished judge born in Indiana can’t do his job because of his Mexican heritage or he mocks a reporter for his disabilities or calls women pigs, it goes against everything we stand for. We want an America where everyone is treated with respect where their work is valued.”

“We believe we should lift each other up not tear each other down.”

To be great, we can’t be small – we have to be as big as the values that define America and we are, a big hearted, fair-minded country.

Yesterday we reported, according to a delegate count conducted after Clinton won the Puerto Rico primary, Clinton now had the number of elected and super delegates required to secure her party’s nomination.

California, New Jersey and four other states, held their primaries today, and it was announced Clinton would be the presumptive nominee this morning.

She's not even there yet and men are enjoying tramping all over her. I don't care. Even if Hillary is a crap president, I am still going to enjoy that finally, a woman may be given the top job. How well she does will be up to her. But she is following plenty of crap male presidents who have led the US over recent decades so there will be nothing new if she's crap too.

It shows however that women always have to justify why they're there, whereas men get to be there and just be good or not. Hillary will be expected to provide dollar for dollar value, like Gillard. Women in the workforce still have to justify their status, whereas men are assumed to be successful, until proven otherwise. Effectively, women have to work twice as hard to do the same job as men because so much extra effort has to go into continually reassuring everybody they are worthy.

I'm a woman and think its a terrible thing. There's videos of rallies being called for her when the yays were in favour of Bernie. So much corruption and money in politics in the US clearly that it's sickening. However, against Trump now I want her to win of course as he's certifiably crazy.
