Let’s be honest:
Travel Agents are essentially just people who we pay to google things for us. And since most people these days tend to have a basic understanding of how to google things themselves, times must be tight for the travel agency business.
Which is why this little Scottish agency that could decided to pull out all the stops.
Thorne Travel made an ad. A travel ad. And it’s glorious:

Let’s break this masterpiece down, shall we?
First, they just STRUT. S.T.R.U.T:
Then, they STRUT some more. But what’s this? The guy is breaking out of line!
Oh, of course! He’s going to sell some travel!
And how exciting! Some random in an over-sized Captain’s uniform is there to vouch for how good the travel is:
Back to the STRUT. This time, from behind:
RANDOM FLASH MOB TIME!
Close-up of legs doing the STRUT.
Someone clicking next to a lady in a wedding dress. Because travel?
Wait. Things just got serious. Black and white. A sad little girl is holding a Mickey Mouse in front of a shoe store.
Oh god. Mickey’s on the ground. Is Mickey DEAD?
It doesn’t matter! The lady is there to sell some Disney travel!
And now Mickey and Minnie are there! Because travel!
And we end on one final, glorious shot of the miracle-working, wedding-dress clicking, Mickey Mouse saving, STRUT-loving, Thorne Travel team:
The video has had almost a million hits.
DESERVED.

Oh. Ohhh. So bad. So good ... I can't decide ... it's like watching a car crash - I want to look away, but can't!
Comments that belittle what TA staff do is uncalled for. It;s the same as the armchair experts who think they understand a banker's job, a teacher's job, a telemarketer's job, etc.
All jobs done well with passion are worthwhile and worth paying for. Sure, we might all know that we can actually book our own flight, get a cheap deal on car hire or arrange travel insurance.
On the other hand, unless you're a really experienced traveller, you're hardly likely to trust yourself with the intricacies of a seven week Europe tour. On such occasions, you need the expertise that comes with most respected travel agencies.
When I just travel interstate, I book it myself. But when I used to go overseas I always went through a travel agent, especially when I used to go for 3 months. My Travel Agent, whom I came to know well, always had very up-to-date information for me, plus recommendations previous travellers, which I think are the best recommendations of all.
