In incredibly disgusting news, it turns out teenagers are actually getting high off feminine hygiene products.

Yep, you read that right.

Now that teens are finished with the Tide Pods fad, they’re getting high off pads and tampons instead.

According to the New York Post, teenagers are boiling tampons in water – including some of the used variety – and then drinking the horrific concoction in a bid to get high.

The horrifying trend was first identified in Indonesia with police arresting multiple teenagers caught using the sanitary devices to create the moonshine-like liquid.

According to the Daily Mail, a 14-year-old Indonesian boy confessed to drinking the “bitter” tasting concoction with his friends in the “morning, afternoon and evening”.

“They used pads they took from the trash were put in boiling water,” Senior Commander Suprinatro, head of the The Indonesian National Drug Agency said. “After it cooled down, they drank it together.”

BNN reports that drinking the mixture results in feelings of ‘flying’ and hallucinations, reportedly due to the chlorine used to sanitise feminine hygiene products.

“The materials they’re using are legal, but they’re not being used in a way that’s intended, so it ends up being used like a drug,” Senior Commander Suprinatro added.

It is not yet known what long-term effects drinking the boiled products could have on the teenagers.

According to the New York Post, it’s believed the practice of boiling sanitary products to make the drink may have been going on for at least a couple of years.

After all, teens in Indonesia have been turning to strange ways to get high for years due to Indonesia’s extremely strict drug laws.
