Over the past couple of weeks, as allegations of Harvey Weinstein’s long, sinister history of sexually harassing and abusing women finally becomes public, the Hollywood producer has – in the most part – remained silent.
Until now.
Weinstein has publicly responded to actress Lupita Nyong’o’s allegations against him.
On Thursday, in a piece for the New York Times, Nyong’o wrote about her own experience with Weinstein.
Nyong’o alleges that she was once invited to Weinstein’s home and then pressured into giving him a massage. The producer then removed his pants and propositioned her, all while his two young children were in the house.
"Before long he said he wanted to take off his pants. I told him not to do that and informed him that it would make me extremely uncomfortable," she wrote.
"He got up anyway to do so and I headed for the door, saying that I was not at all comfortable with that."
The now 34-year-old also wrote about another incident in which Weinstein allegedly invited her up to his hotel room.
When she declined his offer, Weinstein listed a number of famous actresses he had slept with.
"I told him I preferred to eat in the restaurant. He told me not to be so naïve. If I wanted to be an actress, then I had to be willing to do this sort of thing. He said he had dated Famous Actress X and Y and look where that had gotten them."
A spokesperson for Weinstein has responded to the allegations in a statement to Entertainment Weekly.

“Mr. Weinstein has a different recollection of the events, but believes Lupita is a brilliant actress and a major force for the industry. Last year, she sent a personal invitation to Mr. Weinstein to see her in her Broadway show, Eclipsed,” the statement read.
Weinstein is yet to respond to any of the other countless allegations against him.
