ATTENTION, MUGGLES: West End's Harry Potter play is coming to Australia.

Accio! Harry Potter fans!

News has just broke that the play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, is coming to Australia.

“I’ve never been to Australia in my life,” author J.K. Rowling said in a promotional video released by Harry Potter The Play via Instagram this morning. “At last I’ll get down under.”

The Cursed Child play is based off the eighth book in the Harry Potter series – a book written by J.K. Rowling alongside playwright Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany.

It tells the story of Harry after school, as an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, and his life as a husband and a father of three school-age children.

Though exact dates are yet to be announced, the production will kick off in early 2019 at Melbourne's Princess Theatre.

And, if past performances are anything to go by, it will be Quidditch-World-Cup-spectacular.

It's the most awarded production in the history of Britain's Olivier Awards and has won 22 major theatre awards in the UK since opening in July 2016 in London.

In London, the play is a two-part production, with tickets to each part sold separately. Ticket prices have ranged from 15 British pounds (AU$25) to 72.50 pounds (AU$123) for a single session.

Only one thing for it: Butterbeers all round!
