All the absolute best reactions to the infuriating season finale of The Handmaid's Tale.

WARNING: SPOILERS. Turn back now unless you want to find out what happened at the end of the (infuriating) finale of The Handmaid’s Tale Season Two.

Now that they’re (^^) gone, can we please vent about the trauma we all experienced on Thursday night?

To recap in case your brain is still foggy from the shock…

What happened at the end of The Handmaid’s Tale finale?

As chaos ensues in Gilead – houses are burning, cars torched – several Marthas, spearheaded by Rita, help June and her baby, Holly, flee from the Waterfords’ home, through backyards, to a deserted tunnel. A car pulls up. Ofglen/Emily’s new Commander (who turns out to be a less sadistic prick than most) has aided in an operation to help the women and child escape.

Yet when it comes time to climb into the truck that will deliver them out of Gilead, to freedom, June does something that had thousands of viewers screaming at their televisions: she hands the baby to Emily.

“Call her Nicole,” she says, referring to the name the Waterfords had given the child. “Tell her I love her.”

Then she shuts the door, and watches as they drive away.

Viewers – how did most put it? – “couldn’t deal”. Social media erupted with shocked and angry reactions, including several vows to never watch The Handmaid’s Tale again.

So yes, June’s eldest daughter, Hannah, is still in Gilead being raised by another family. But…

People are still bewildered at why June didn’t leave, because surely, surely, she could do more to help save her and all the other defenceless women and children from the safety of Canada.

We’re not prepared to give up just yet, but it’s definitely time for a lie down.

Wake us up when Season 3 of The Handmaid’s Tale is released in 2019.

Nup, disagree. That was the best, most kickass hour of TV I’ve seen in a long time. Those courageous, brilliant Marthas left me in tears! I love that June is going ‘back in.’ I want to see Fred punished and June lead the overthrow. I’m just concerned how she’ll do it. Surely she’ll go into hiding and not back to Serena and Fred. Am also conflicted about whether I want her with Luke or Nick in the end. Really love Nick, he deserves her.

The writers have a huge job tending to all the characters in the way they deserve in season 3. One thing is for sure, if Emily is caught and the baby is returned to Fred, I’m out. That’s just too much to ask..

Letting go of children a bit like Trumps America, and June has unfinished business with the Commander
