Hamish and Andy were 'banned for life' from the Olympic Village. Now they've explained why.

The Olympic Village is in full swing at the Paris Olympic Games. But there's an Aussie comedian duo that are by no means allowed anywhere near the hub... and it's Hamish and Andy.

Back in 2012 the duo were basking in the good vibes of the London Olympic Games as part of their Euro Gap Year TV program. For one of their segments, they were set to visit the Olympic Village and make some content with the athletes — think photos, videos and comedy skits.

Hamish Blake and Andy Lee had been invited to do a speech for the Aussie athletes ahead of their competitions.

But when Blake and Lee rocked up to the Village in London, as per the confirmed schedule, things did not go to plan.

What did Hamish and Andy do in the Olympic Village?

This week Lee appeared on Triple M's The Rush Hour with Liesel, Liam and Dobbo, where he confirmed that he and Blake are banned for life from entering any Olympic Village.

After submitting a security application that didn't show Lee's correct birth date, the duo were refused entry. So they tried to rectify the situation... creatively.

"[There are] a lot of applications and security you have to fill out to get into the Olympic Village … and someone who filled out the forms put my birth date as that day's date [in 2012]," recalled Lee.

"I won't name who, but someone on the team said, 'Hey, I can bring an outfit out. You look a little bit like one of the high jumpers'. Suddenly I went through on someone else's [pass] and we snuck in, which was obviously a huge breach of security at a time when they were trying to prove that security was tight."

The unnamed athlete had done Lee a very big solid. He and Blake were able to take their photos with the athletes, perform their hilarious speech and spend a solid 90 minutes with the team "having a ball".

Then security came knocking.

"They dragged us and put us in separate rooms and there was a lot of interrogation. We were… just tight-lipped, and then the head of security came in."

After explaining what they had done, the Olympic Village's security team, along with Lee and Blake, agreed to a lifetime ban. The Aussie team also ended up facing a bit of heat too, with some of their visitor passes being rescinded.

"That's why I wasn't really proud of what happened. I hate the fact that some people missed out [on getting visitor passes]," Lee said. "We had to agree to be banned for life."

It's safe to say we shouldn't expect Blake and Lee at this year's Paris Olympic Village.

Wait... what is The Olympic Village?

The Olympic Village provides all the necessary amenities and more for the athletes to enjoy.

There's as bakery set up at the entrance to the Village that churns out more than 2,000 baguettes, croissants, pain au chocolat and focaccia daily. According to the New York Times, they even offer baking classes for athletes seeking respite from the games.

The Village includes six restaurants, a dining hall, training grounds, 24-hour fitness centre, polyclinic, prayer rooms and an anti-doping centre.

The dining hall seats 3,500 people and will serve 40,000 meals daily. The menu changes every eight days and meets the dietary requirements of all the athletes and staff.

There is also a "club" for the athletes to kick back in the Olympic Village.

While there are rules around drinking in the Paris Olympic Village, the athletes do have the chance to blow off steam in the relaxing area, which features an outdoor space with a DJ booth, tables, beanbag chairs, and non-alcoholic drinks.
