Six hostages have been shot in Gaza. Now, Hamas is releasing 'taunting' footage to their loved ones.

Hamas has published footage of six murdered hostages whose bodies were recovered by the Israel Defense Force in the Gaza Strip.

Hersh Goldberg-Polin, 23, Eden Yerushalmi, 24, Ori Danino, 25, Alex Lobanov, 32, Carmel Gat, 40, and Almog Sarusi, 27 were found in a tunnel in Rafah on Sunday, each suffering multiple gunshots wounds.

It is believed they were only murdered a day or so before they were found, meaning they were kept in captivity for close to 11 months, since their capture on October 7, 2023.

Hamas has now released a 'teaser' video to their last messages.

Looking gaunt and tired, the hostages identify themselves to camera before the clip transitions to still images.

"Hours & We will release their last statements," the video text said in Hebrew, English and Arabic.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is under pressure at home and abroad to reach a ceasefire deal that includes the release of remaining hostages, has spoken with the families and asked for their forgiveness their relatives weren't rescued alive.

"We were close, but we didn't achieve it. Hamas will pay a very heavy price for this," he said in a press conference.

The six recovered bodies were from about 250 hostages taken in Hamas' killing spree through southern Israel on October 7, which sparked the war in Gaza. About 1200 people were killed in the assault, according to Israeli tallies. Around 100 remain unaccounted for.

The Hostage Families Forum called on Netanyahu to take responsibility and explain what was holding up an agreement.

"They were all murdered in the last few days, after surviving almost 11 months of abuse, torture, and starvation in Hamas captivity," it said.

"The delay in signing the deal has led to their deaths and those of many other hostages."

Since October, at least 40,534 Palestinians have been killed in Israel's military offensive in Gaza, according to figures from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to deepen, with the World Health Organisation currently coordinating a campaign to vaccinate 640,000 children against polio following the first confirmed case in the territory in 25 years.

Residents in Gaza are facing catastrophic levels of food insecurity, with 90 per cent of the population currently displaced.
