Gwyneth Paltrow had a party where no one was allowed to wear makeup and we can't stop looking.

Gwyneth Paltrow is like an onion. She’s got layers.

She’s an actress. A podcaster. A mother. An advocate for not living with your partner if you want to have sex and burning vagina-scented candles. She’s also what you’d call ‘woo woo’. A bit alternative. It’s what the Hollywood star-turned-guru built her million-dollar wellness/pseudo-science empire Goop on.

Yes, Gwyneth told us to put jade eggs in our vaginas and yes, it was proven in a court of law that no, you absolutely should not. (You can watch the trailer for Gwyneth’s Goop Netflix series in the video below, post continues after video.)

But whether you kneel at the Goop alter or fear for the future of mankind because of it, this week, Gwyneth did something really, bloody cool.

On Wednesday, the 47-year-old Oscar-winner hosted a fancy party in the Hollywood Hills and invited all her celebrity friends.

Seated outside under hanging chandeliers, the likes of Demi Moore, Rumer Willis, Kate Hudson, Rachel Zoe, Alexandra Grant and Samantha Ronson presumably ate a Kombucha-infused, gluten-free bread substitute and sipped on Goop glow juice at a rustic brushed metal and wood dining table setting that probably cost more per head than a mortgage repayment.

We’re getting to the cool bit.

But unlike every other schmancy dinner party going on in LA, the invitation to Gwyneth’s came with one simple request: please don’t wear makeup.

Gwyneth’s guests were asked to arrive completely bare-faced. No ‘no makeup’ makeup allowed. This was to celebrate the natural human form, lines, wrinkles, spots and pimples included… but also to promote Goop’s new wellness supplement, a Goop Glow power shot powder of vitamins C and E, CoQ10 and something called grape-seed proanthocyanidins so you can ‘drink your way to glowing skin’.

Aside from a rogue lick of eyeliner and some clear lip balm, they obliged. The result? A bunch of slightly blurry but brilliant photos of powerful, influential women looking happy without a scrap of makeup on their faces we can’t stop looking at.

It’s important to note that, yes, part of the reason these no-makeup selfies look so chic (and not at all how ours do) is because the women in attendance have the money and means to access regular, high-end skin and beauty treatments. But considering we’re so used to seeing celebrities on red carpets and in movies with their faces buffed and blended to perfection, they’re a refreshing reminder of what women’s faces actually look like.

Posting on Instagram, Gwyneth wrote, “About last night… a beautiful gathering in celebration of beauty just the way we come. No make up, no filter. An amazing gathering of some of the best women on planet earth.”

Guest Demi Moore also shared images from the dinner, writing, “What an incredible night makeup-free with these extraordinary women. I feel so nourished and full of joy. Thank YOU both for sharing your light, love and wisdom! Beauty is more than what you see, it is what you feel. So grateful to be included in such a powerful, memorable and meaningful evening!”

‘But some of them ARE wearing makeup,’ a group of people in the comments section cried and look, they’re probably not wrong. But honestly, who cares?

The relationship between women and makeup is far more complicated than just not wearing it, but photos like this from high-profile women is how to start to change the narrative.

So, Gwyneth. More of this please! And fewer things we’re meant to put in our vaginas.
