Did Gwyneth have an open marriage?

When is cheating not cheating? When you’re a high profile celebrity with an ‘arrangement’, apparently.

People continue to be shocked about Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s divorce. But not because they took the concious leap to uncouple, more that they seem like the best divorced couple ever.

While normal divorced couples move out, Paltrow and Martin packed both their bags and took their kids on a family trip to the Bahamas.

Reportedly, Paltrow didn't mind if the Coldplay musician had affairs.

However, it seems like the couple haven't been so merry. According to People magazine, they have been "on and off" for quite some time and the separation was long in the works before it was announced.

In this week's issue, several friends reportedly tell People, that the famous couple had an open relationship. Apparently, Paltrow didn't mind if the Coldplay musician had affairs.

One friend told People, "They were physically separated and emotionally. They always have been comfortable doing things apart. No one thought that was unusual.'

Martin was linked to Kate Bosworth, Helena Christensen and Kate Hudson. While both Christensen and Hudson have denied the rumours, the now-married Bosworth has refused to comment.

While on Paltrow's hit list: Jeffrey Soffer (now married to Elle Macpherson), Brad Falchuk (Glee producer) and Kevin Yorn (attorney).

In September last year, Paltrow said, "No couple is the same, and as such, every couple takes on different challenges. I would like to think I would be forgiving and/or forgiven."

A source also told People, "If Chris was playing around [cheating], Gwyneth didn't care. She's never been jealous or territorial. Her philosophy is, 'We're both adults. We make our own choices.'"
