Police looking for a missing father and his daughter have reportedly found two bodies in dense bushland.
Four year old Eeva Dorendahl-Hutchings and her dad Greg Hutchings had been missing in northern NSW since January 11. They were last seen on Pottsville Road, Pottsville on the northern border of NSW.
The little girl had been staying at her father’s house in Pottsville and was due to meet her mother in Kin Kin on the Sunshine Coast, but they never arrived.
Hutchings had reportedly feared his ex wife would take their daughter to Finalnd. Before he disappeared, he said: “I am greatly concerned for the physical security and welfare of my daughter. Michelle and I have significant differences of opinion, and major communication difficulties, regarding aspects of Eeva’s upbringing.”
Last week, Eeva’s mother wrote on Facebook: “It has been a month since I have seen and held my little girl … 15 days since she was due to come home to me … 14 days since I have heard her voice and 13 days since she disappeared without a trace.”
The bodies were found by an SES volunteer.
A statement from NSW Police said, “The bodies are yet to be formally identified and police are unable to speculate whether they are that of the missing 35-year-old man and his four-year-old daughter.”
Detective Superintendent Stuart Wilkins said later in the day that, “It is quite obvious they have been deceased for a considerable period of time … We are unable at this time to identify those bodies but it is certainly possible that they are our missing persons.”
Police have reportedly set up a crime scene near a NSW beach.
Our thoughts are with the family.
