1. New South Wales: The Blue Mountains.
No matter where you travel in New South Wales, it’s just a matter of time before you spot a glimpse of the Blue Mountains and your children start asking questions. Why are they blue? Can we go there? Are they really big? Why do they look so small?
Taking a road trip to the Blue Mountains and exploring landmarks that the children have heard about in school, like the Great Dividing Range, is life changing. What stunning views. What iconic locations. Places you have only ever heard about and you’ll soon be standing there with your children feeling…awe.

Queensland has the magnificent Great Barrier Reef and the suggestions is theme parks and panning for gold? The Reef, Cape Tribulation, the Daintree are divine and definitely worth the road trip!
I've done the NT road trip and yes it's hot. Particularly in summer and when you start off in Melbourne and end in Darwin.... Insanity I know, but we weren't the only ones and we got to see Port Augusta, Coober Pedy, Lake Eyre, Alice Springs, The Devils Marbles, Uluru, The Olgas (can't remember spelling in Aboriginal), Mataranka, Katherine Gorge, Litchfield and Darwin.
We've done the 12 Apostles when there were still 10. I've done up and down the east coast and the Newell Highway more times than I care to remember. We've also done Brisbane to Adelaide a number of times.
One day I'd like to do the west coast, but I know it would be a long, long drive.
I'd also like to go around Tassie too, I feel a bit disgraceful that as a Melbournian I never got to see it before I moved north.
We're going to Port Douglas soon and as much as I'd like to go to the Cape, I think it's just a bit too late for that in the season.
