Her parents left her 11-month old son in their car where he died. Read her response to them.

11-month old Jaxon was forgotten in the car for more than two hours.

Now this is what compassion is.

On Saturday 11-month-old Jaxon Taylor became the 19th child to die this year alone in the US after being left in a hot car.

In Australia, so far this year we have had one – a 22-month old boy who died in February.

Jaxon, whose mother said “changed her life the minute he entered it”, was left in a car by his grandparents after they took him to Church.

He was just weeks away from his first birthday when he died the excruciating death.

The family, from Georgia in the United States accidentally left the boy in the car for more than two hours in 32C temperatures.

The local police officer Steve Wilson told CNN that grandparents Kyle and Meta Hendershot were caring for Jaxon while his mother, Mandie slept after a night shift as a nurse.

The grandparents, an aunt and a cousin took him to church and returned home all leaving the car without the little baby. It was only when Mandie awoke from her nap and asked where her baby boy was that the awful realisation doomed.

Mandie rushed to the Toyota SUV his grandparents had driven in and her “worst fear” came to life.

Her beautiful son had died. She tried to revive him, using all her skills as an ER nurse but it was too late in the two-hours he had been there he had perished.

A reason we hear all too often was used by the local police chief when he explained the tragic death.

“It appears that there were other things on their mind,” Sheriff Wilson said.

“There was a lack of communication within the three adults. They assumed that one of the others had brought in the child and laid him down. They didn’t communicate who would get the child.”

Tragic, heartbreaking news that no one could image having to deal with– and compounding the tragedy the terrible fact that his grandparents were the ones who left little Jaxon in the car.

It is hard to image their torment, or how their daughter could come to terms with the fact that her parents, who she entrusted with his care, had forgotten her only child.

But this is how she has come to terms with it – with grace and forgiveness, with an act of humanity that has left many floored, stunned at her generosity.

In a Facebook post, now going viral, Mandie wrote how her parents had just made a mistake and that she “held no one blame”.

Her benevolence follows many posts on her page calling for her parents to be prosecuted, branding them ‘murders’ and saying she was irresponsible to allow them to care for her child.

Mandie has faced them down showing us all what it is to forgive.

She wrote: “It is very widespread news at this point that my son died on Saturday, September 6th at 11 months and 8 days old. There have been many news reports, and various stories. I was not there, and he was in the care of his grandparents, my parents.

“His death was a horrific, tragic event and has devastated many. My son had the best two grandparents any baby ever had in his short time here. These are grandparents that were there through my long, 23 hour labour.

“These are the grandparents that took him some weekend nights and walked for hours when he had colic and was inconsolable. These are the grandparents that watched him roll over, sit up, crawl and pull himself up for the first time. These people held and loved him when he was sick, feverish or fussy. These are the people that could make him smile and laugh when no one else could. They were there for him every day of his life, and my son loved them unconditionally the same way they did.

“What happened was terrible, there is no argument for that. But who of us hasn’t made a mistake, such a horrible mistake that we thought nobody else could forgive it? Who hasn’t had others judge them, and spit on them and spew hatred? Since every one of us has done terrible things and caused immense pain to others, who but God can condemn?

“I am in more pain than any human has ever experienced, but I chose to let go of hatred and blame. I remember my sweet boy with love and grief, and I will always love him.”

Our thoughts are with this family – and the many others who have lost a child in this terrible way.
