Brace yourselves, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is coming.
In the near future we’ll once again be watching the world’s genetically-blessed don lingerie, heels and angel wings from the comfort of our couches… with snacks. Wearing tracksuit pants. Or is that just me?
The Angels are busy preparing themselves for the Fashion Show happening tomorrow in Paris. And there’s one common factor occurring among many of them. Gold faces.
Yes, they’re all sporting gold face masks.
The question we’re all asking? WHY?!
The answer is the benefits of 24 karat gold, friends.
Specifically Mimi Luzon’s gold leaf sheet mask that retails for $400 a pop. Ouch. Good news is it’s currently on special for $294…
“[The gold leaf sheet mask] provides the skin with immediate wellbeing, treats redness and fine lines and gives the skin a more even tone and a healthy glow,” Mimi Luzon’s website says.

Pretentious crock. Gold is famously inert (noble metal) and isn't going to interact with anything in your skin, other than to block pores. Cling wrap will have the same effect. Which is sweatiness.
Actually, gold can react with things! A lab at my university studies the photovoltaic effects of gold nanoparticles and clusters. It's all about electron movements - reactions smaller than the atom scale.
Yeah, agreed, but in terms of a few hours on your face? Pretty unlikely. Gold oxidises super slowly. I made it sound like it's absolutely inert, but my meaning was it's relatively inert.
I'm possibly abusing a superlative adjective, but I think we can agree that this wouldn't be money well spent?
Oh, definitely. Only people with more money than sense would think this was a good way to spend several hundred dollars!
