NSW Police have charged a 48-year-old man for indecently assaulting a little girl on a bus earlier this week.
According to their statement, the six-year-old girl was catching the bus near Charlestown when the man got onto the bus and sat next to her.
“About 3.45pm on Wednesday (4 May 2016), a man got on a bus at Frederick Street, Charlestown and sat down next to a 6-year-old girl,” the statement says.
“He allegedly spoke to the girl before indecently assaulting her. He got off the bus a short time later at Gateshead.”
After the bus trip the girl reported the assault to her mother who then informed the police.
Mid-morning on Saturday, the police arrested the man in Charlestown after a series of investigations.
He has since been charged with aggravated indecent assault.

Possibly the mother was not travelling on the bus with her daughter?
Someone must have been with her - who would let a 6 year old ride the bus alone?
If you read the story - she was catching the bus home from school.
Ah, see I only read the article here, no mention of it being a school bus.
How the fuck does that happen without anyone, even the mother, noticing?
Kids catching the bus home from school rarely have their mothers with them.
My son is 7, I would not let him catch a normal bus alone. A school bus yes but not a regular passenger bus.
