Legendary singer George Michael is to be buried next to his mother, Lesley Angold Panayiotou, in north London.
According to The Mirror, a plot has been cleared at Highgate Cemetery beside that of the former dancer, who died of cancer in 1997, aged 60.
The 53-year-old Freedom singer’s body was finally released by the coroner last week, nearly three months on from his death on Christmas Day.
The Mirror reports that preparations are now being made for his funeral – a small, private ceremony reportedly to be held on or close to UK Mother’s Day on March 26.
A larger memorial is believed to be scheduled to take place a short time later.
Michael’s body was discovered in his bed by his partner, Australian hairdresser Fadi Fawaz, on Christmas Morning.
The official cause of death, released Friday, was recorded as ‘dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and a fatty liver’.
No suspicious circumstances were identified.
