Having been cleared of all murder and manslaughter charges against Warriena Wright on Thursday, the lawyer of Gold Coast man Gable Tostee has revealed the first words his client spoke after hearing the jury’s not guilty verdict.
“Thank you,” Nick Dore told the Today Show‘s Lisa Wilkinson on Friday.
“Gable, contrary to all the reports, is actually a pretty quiet sort of guy,” Dore continued. “He’s not a big talker… but he was very, very, very thankful.”

Having met on the popular dating app Tinder in 2014, Tostee and Wright were on a date when an altercation occurred in his Surfers Paradise apartment and eventually resulted in 26-year-old Wright plummeting to her death from the 14th-floor balcony.
Audio recorded by Tostee on the night appeared to show the pair fighting and captured Wright’s terrified screams as Tostee allegedly refused to let her go home.
The court was told he locked her on his balcony before she fell while trying to climb to the balcony below.

Attempting to explain his 30-year-old client's behaviour in court, Dore said, "If you're too confident you can jinx it; if you're not confident you can seem pessimistic.
"He kept a pretty level head throughout the course of the proceedings," Dore continued. "Certainly, he was a man who considering the matter very seriously and trying to take as much emotion out of it as possible to get himself through it."

When Wilkinson pushed the matter again, Dore again explained, " His lack of sorrow is primarily due to my direction. He has often expressed sympathy to me, and a willingness to express his sympathy to the family members, but certainly, it's been at my advice not to do that, so I'll wear that one.
Dore has been doing the media rounds since the finding was handed down yesterday afternoon, also appearing on The Project on Thursday evening.
Speaking with hosts Waleed Aly, Carrie Bickmore, Gretel Killeen and Peter Helliar via video link, Dore didn’t have an answer as to why Tostee recorded audio throughout the night of Warriena Wright’s death.

“Um… I’m unaware as to why it was recorded,” Dore admitted.
“Obviously it was lucky it was recorded, otherwise, if it wasn’t, no-one would have believed what transpired that night.”
Tostee is yet to address the media directly.
