Even if it’s your child’s all-important recorder recital. Or your sister’s boyfriend’s niece’s neighbour’s birthday party (wait… why are you even going to that anyway?)

You need to clear your schedule of ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that will get in the way of you getting one of 100,000 free scoops of ice cream from Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.

See? It’s totally worth it. And there’ll be plenty more recorder recitals to come (sorry).

Tuesday marks the 40th time the ice cream company will be giving away free scoops as part of Free Cone Day and all flavours - from the newest and most experimental to the tried-and-tested classics - will be on offer.

Some special flavours this year include the Coconut Seven Layer Bar which features (surprise!) seven layers of coconut flavour, as well as the Non-Dairy Caramel Almond Brittle for the lactose-free folk.

Last year, the ice cream chain served up an average of 220 scoops per minute during Free Cone Day and this year they're hoping to hand out a new Aussie record of 110,000 free dollops of the fan-favourite dessert.

So how do you get this delicious scoop of (free) creamy goodness?

All you have to do is visit any Ben & Jerry's location across Australia between the hours of 12pm and 8pm. And... that's it.

All that's left to do is enjoy.
