'I hope someone rips out your other kidney.' The Selena Gomez story that won't go away.

For someone with a brand centred around kindness and mental health, Selena Gomez's fandom has become increasingly toxic; most recently, targeting the woman who gave her a kidney.

Actress Francia Raisa, who you might know from The Secret Life of the American Teenager or How I Met Your Father, donated her kidney to Gomez back in 2017.

The Only Murders in the Building actress had previously been diagnosed with lupus which was causing her kidneys to fail.

The demand for kidneys is high for transplant patients, so Gomez later explained that it was going to take years for her to find a donor.

When it was discovered Raisa was a perfect match and agreed to donate one of her kidneys, it saved Gomez's life.

Earlier this week, Raisa told TMZ she's been bullied relentlessly by Gomez's fans since rumours began of a supposed feud between the pair.

"I think the [comment] that probably hurt the most was, 'I hope someone goes up your pu**y and rips out your other kidney you f***ing whore,'" she said.

The irony, Raisa noted, is that Gomez has told her fans to stop online bullying in the past.

"The fact that I’m now being bullied as I am, it’s messing with me mentally," she said.

"To me, it’s not what anyone wants for someone. She’s literally out there saying, 'Please stop', so I don’t understand others that are also being antagonised online."

In November 2022, Gomez released her Apple TV+ documentary, My Mind & Me, which explored her mental and physical health, and relationship with fame.

Raisa didn't get a mention.

Then during an interview with Rolling Stone to accompany the release of the film, Gomez called Taylor Swift her "only friend in the industry".

"I never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities. My only friend in the industry really is Taylor [Swift], so I remember feeling like I didn't belong," she said.

The quote made its way around the internet, including onto an E! News Instagram post. In the comments, Raisa wrote, "Interesting".

The story flared up even further when a day later, Gomez replied on a TikTok explaining Raisa's comment, saying "Sorry I didn't mention every person I know".

That same month, Raisa's father gave an interview seemingly confirming the women are no longer friends.

Appearing on the Spanish news show Primer Impacto, Renán Almendárez Coello, said his daughter confronted Gomez because she didn’t stop drinking after receiving her new kidney.

The host then questioned if their fallout was "provoked" by the actress' drinking.

"There’s a difference when Selena is drinking," Coello replied.

"Francia told Selena that she didn’t give her the kidney so she could go out and drink."

This isn't the first time Gomez's fans have harassed a woman in the public eye.

Before this instance, they went after Hailey Bieber on countless occasions, sending her abusive comments and death threats. Most infamously, chanting Gomez's name while she and Justin Bieber arrive on the 2022 Met Gala red carpet.

Gomez had to publicly ask them to stop.

"Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity," Gomez wrote on her Instagram Stories in March.

"This isn’t what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I’ve always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop."

It seems they no longer listen.
