I love father’s day. It’s a chance to show Dad what he really means. It’s a time to celebrate all the appalling jokes we’ve all tolerated over the years, and a time to cringe at the memory of him mowing the nature strip in his speedos.
It can sometimes be tricky to find something for Dad. But don’t stress, there is no need to resort to the socks and jocks.
To help you out this Father’s Day, we have complied a list of fail-safe Father’s Day gift ideas that will get the old man smiling.
1. Chocolates
Chocolate is a safe bet for most dads (except those who may be lactose intolerant). If your dad is a true chocolate lover, you could even think of putting together a hamper of his favourites. Include a handwritten promise not to knick all the good stuff, and I’d say you’ve made Dad’s day a pretty happy one.
2. Experiences
Giving dad a voucher or pre booked experience is a great way to create some fun memories. There are so many things you can choose from which means that whatever your dad is into, you’ll be able to find something that makes him smile. A quick online search will open up endless possibilities. Most activities are better with two participants anyway, so use the occasion for some bonding time.
Just as an FYI, you should know that this post is sponsored by Dan Murphys. But all opinions expressed by the author are 100% authentic and written in their own words.
3. Tickets to a sporting game
If your dad/husband/uncle/grandfather likes his sport, tickets to a game is a great idea. They don’t have to be hideously expensive, and it’s a great day out. Shout him a pub meal beforehand and get your team cheers ready.
4. Jewellery
Some men like jewellery, some don’t. If your dad is in the former category, why not look into something personalised. Fingerprints, engraving, you can even have a favourite photo etched into pieces. If dad’s not into the bling, you could always run with the same theme and engrave a beer mug, pen or photo frame.
