Emma Leiwsham is a brand that broke the skincare mould. 

The New Zealand-born brand undoubtedly changed the 'clean beauty' game, re-writing the rules around sustainability and science and proving that you can have both: natural skincare that's actually effective. 

For a long time, the two worlds didn't co-exist. You either had natural products, or you had science-backed skincare. Lewisham saw this gap in the market and started her own brand, building an entirely new global benchmark in beauty.

Last year, the brand announced it was the world's first carbon-positive beauty brand. Meaning? It makes the whole beauty system cleaner and better. The brand even received endorsement from iconic environmentalist and UN Messenger of Peace Dr Jane Goodall. HUGE. And it's very quickly become a cult beauty brand with a massive following.

So, if you're looking to jump on the Emma Lewisham train (hop on! It's nice), but don't know where to start (because look, the products ain't cheap) I've rounded up the best products worth your coin.

If you try anything in the Emma Lewisham range, make it this guy. It's the hero product of the range and packs a serious punch when it comes to evening skin tone and reducing the appearance of pigmentation. With a powerful concentration of 24 active ingredients, it contains plant stem cell extract and vitamin C extracted from Kakadu Plum to help brighten, repair and prevent further damage.

2. Emma Lewisham Illuminating Oil Cleanser, $82.

Whether you're a lazy gewl or a strict double-cleanser, Emma Lewisham Illuminating Oil Cleanser is for every face. It's a gentle, hydrating formula that melts away makeup and the day's gunk, leaving behind beautiful smooth, soft and nourished skin. Mixed with a drop of water, it has a beautifully milky texture and feels both parts effective and indulgent.

While it may be the gold-standard skincare ingredient, retinol can do a real number on your face if you've got a sensitive skin type or use it incorrectly. It's fickle like that. But if you want to reap the benefits, without tearing your face apart, this deserves a spot on your skin shelf. 

It uses a retinol alternative called bakuchiol – which is rich in vitamin A. It's also packed with a range of other actives (20 of 'em) such as vitamins, antioxidants, amino and fatty acids to help reduce the appearance of ageing skin, brighten the complexion and add a dose of hydration.

Formulated with peptides, plant extracts and a whopping 23 synergistic actives, the Supernatural Face Creme Riche not only hydrates and improves the appearance of ageing skin (hey, fine lines and wrinkles), but it also promises to kick-start collagen production.

As someone with dry skin, I like to use it morning and night (it's rich, but doesn't feel heavy or greasy), and it immediately gifts me softer, plumper skin.

If you're a girl who struggles with persistent breakouts, this one's for you. A newbie on the Emma Lewisham team, this is waaay more than just a pimple treatment, we promise. It's a serum that uses live skin probiotics (approximately 235 million live probiotic cells per dose!!) to support and balance the skin's microbiome, reducing acne-causing bacteria. 

I've been struggling with angry skin post-pill, and can personally attest to the fact that it helps clear and smooth the skin. (P.S. The packaging is so fancy and cool!).

Emma Lewisham's Supernatural Sleeping Mask is bursting with highly concentrated actives (including gentle alpha hydroxy acid, peptides and plant extracts) and is just the ticket for rejuvenating and nourishing tired, lacklustre skin. I apply it at night and wake up with noticeably brighter, plumper and smoother skin come morning. It's literally better skin in a tub.

You know who likes dull skin? No one. Including you, most likely. With ingredients such as wild indigo extract (to protect the skin from the stress hormone, cortisol), as well as phytoactives and ceramides, this isn't your run-off-the-mill face cream. It hydrates, illuminates, boosts and repairs the skin. Plus, it sits really bloody nice under makeup. We love to see it.

As someone who tries a lotta skincare products, eye cream is one of those products I always put in the 'nice both not necessary' basket. Mostly because I'm lazy, but also because I think serums and moisturisers can do the same job. However, this has to be up there with the best I've tried. The formula is beautifully thick (yet, not greasy), hydrating and sinks into dry under eyes like a dream.
