When you’re a kid, there is nothing worse than coming home from a day of school to do more work.
But homework is usually a part of life – unless you’re able to come up with a very good excuse (No, ‘the dog ate my homework’ does not count) to get out of it.
So, that is what California teenager Eddie Cortez did.

The 14-year-old turned up to school empty-handed after being assigned weekend homework and his teacher requested a paper on why he didn’t do it.
Eddie saw this as an opportunity to argue his case – and he did a damn good job at it.
He argued he didn’t want to do homework over the weekend because “it’s a stress free time to go out with friends, watch TV and play games”.
“I don’t do it also because it makes me very mad and unhappy. I do what makes me happy because I want to be happy.”
The letter was posted on Twitter by a family member and has gone viral with more than 354000 likes.
Eddie went on to argue that homework is "not a real thing in the real world" and therefore shouldn't be required of kids in school.
"It's not useful," he said. "Case closed, the court rules in favour of Edward Immanuel Cortez in the case of student v. homework."
Eddie and his father Alfred Cortez even appeared on a local television show to discuss the letter - now hilariously dubbed 'The case of Students v. Homework'.
He told Fox & Friends he believed he made some "good points" and his dad confirmed that despite his distaste for homework, Eddie was going alright in school.
As well as his 'court' win, Eddie has the support of social media users.

LOL! This kid and the article writer and some random social media peeps think this is good reasoning. The reasoning is very poor and immature. To say that people in the real world don't have to work at what they are good at to get better is an absolute joke. Sure, there are some dead end jobs that require no work outside of the job. But improving your skills outside of pay time is still valuable to people in those jobs so that they can find a better one at some point. I sure hope this kids favorite basketball team doesn't think as he does. Yeah, not practicing basketball outside of the games is a good idea. Or even, not taking care of your body outside of the team practices is a great way to make it to the top. Oh brother. Homework makes him sad and mad? Immature reasoning. He needs to substitute in some video games and tv time and we praise him for his maturity? Ugh.
