Does television’s biggest family have room for one more?
Michelle Duggar, the matriarch of the family at the centre of 19 Kids and Counting, has visited a fertility doctor to see if she can “catch” another baby.
Riiiiiiiight.
Reality television’s biggest family is open to welcoming a new addition.
Duggar matriarch and patriarch, Michelle and Jim Bob, have visited a fertility clinic to suss out their chances of conceiving child number 20.
And yes, that does mean that 17/18/19 Kids and Counting might be forced to go through another series name change.
The enormous family visited a clinic to find out whether 47-year-old Michelle would be able to go through with another pregnancy, after having a miscarriage at 19 weeks back in 2011.
“We are just going to check and see that I’m physically in good condition,” Michelle says in the preview of the latest episode.
“We would love more children if God saw fit to give us more — I just want to make sure that I’m ready to catch a baby if that would happen.”
“Catch a baby”? C’mon, Michelle. You’ve done this enough times to know that babies are neither a disease nor something the stork throws at you yelling, “Go long!”
In all seriousness, the episode does appear to send quite a strong message about the rarity of successful pregnancy for women over 45. The fertility doctor tells the couple:
“We do occasionally see pregnancies in women who are 47, 48, 49, even 50. But they’re very unusual. Very unusual.”

I think it's amazing, and I take my hat off to them. Their not afraid of work, will help anyone out if they need a hand with no thought for themselves and what they would get out of it. They don't have T.V and limit internet to only school work. They home school, which stops bullying, and cyber bullying and can focus and learn at a quicker rate and so don't have to sit through hrs upon hrs of school and not absorbing anything. They have a solid faith which gives them a stable foundation to build their lives upon. Their beliefs of the olds ways of courting is a truly fantastic way to understand one another before all the hormones kick in and confuse the situation. They have healthy, strong happy clean children who are well fed and are good at communicating. No child is treated better than another. They show so much affection to one another and are all truly best friends. Seriously, how many husbands and wives still show that amount of affection and understanding to one another after this many kids and hurdles that they have faced....... If you look at just over 100 yrs ago, children where made to work farms, and collect water, help make bread, butter and flour, they had to hand sew, hand milk cows, and clean toilets. They had to tend animals and get extra jobs to help the family and that's not including attending school, where they had to learn logarithms, and Latin, and French. Kids have it easy (too easy and this is why they play up, they have no structure and too much time on their hands). The Duggars eliminate T.V. and game machines, and Internet and in doing this teach the kids how to communicate with each other, play together, listen to each other and learn from each other........these are thing you will not get of the electrical things and I believe are lacking in todays society. Given they have had 20 children and 1 passed away(which was heartbreaking as I too lost a 4 1/2 mth old due to heart conditions and one of my other children was born at 29wks and survived) and they want more. I truly believe if it was supposed to be then it was supposed to be. Fate. The children are truly amazing, and each one of these beautiful kids is a blessing. The more the merrier and if anything the more children Michelle has the more she glows, I seriously believe she has found her calling. The children don't miss out and if anything they get more out of life, they see more, do more, learn more about the real world, and are with their parents 24/7. Not to mention they stress a lot less than most children which is a killer in itself. They don't have to worry about their parents going away to work, or ever being alone, not having friend around and so they communicate a lot better than most families. I know this is only my opinion, and nothing I say matters, but I love watching this family, grow, and learn, and communicate, it helps me to teach my children this is how we should be to one another, and there are a lot of other ideas that are working for my kids now too......so I say THANK YOU DUGGERS....you are a true joy to watch, laugh with, and cry with and thank you for your guidance.
Wow, what a lovely, common sense comment :)
I have never watched their show, but your comment just made me smile!
I don't think it is fair on the children. How can you give that many children your time and properly listen to them. Their obsession to have more kids has become priority over the other children's needs.
As they don't work (they worked hard early in their marriage to buy several properties, become debt free, and live off the rental income) , and the children are home schooled, they spend more time with their children than ANYONE I know!
