It seems the sexual harassment allegations levelled against Don Burke on Monday may have only scratched the surface.
Since Fairfax and ABC published the results of their stunning joint investigation into allegations of improper conduct by the television presenter, more men and women have come forward to add to the claims, including two who spoke with A Current Affair on Tuesday night.
Their stories are among the most damning unearthed so far.
While the majority of the Burke’s Backyard host’s accusers have come from within the entertainment industry, ACA spoke to a former waitress named Tina Jarratt who claims to have had an encounter with Burke in the 1980s while working at a hotel in the NSW town of Moss Vale.
Jarratt claims Burke invited her and a friend to a party with him and his crew at a nearby apartment hotel.
“When we turned up to the hotel and there was only Don, no crew, I thought, ‘This is a bit odd,'” she told the program.
Despite their reservations, Jarratt said, the pair decided to stay. Some time later Burke allegedly pushed her onto the bed.
“So he was on top of me, and that’s when he said to me, ‘My wife and I have an agreement that it would be OK if I have sex with you. My wife would agree with that,'” Jarrat claimed. “That’s when I just, I freaked out. I said, ‘Get off me. No way.'”
