It’s only the second year an Australian has competed for their country at the Eurovision Song Contest, but it seems #TeamAus were keen to take things in a different direction.
Unlike Guy Sebastian’s upbeat and pumping tune Tonight Again, 2016 contestant Dami Im’s song is more emotional power-ballad-come-dance-track.
Dami shared a teaser clip of the song, titled Sound of Silence, on her Twitter yesterday.
“SO excited to share a taste of my #SBSEurovision song!” she wrote.
The full version of the song was played on SBS The Feed. We can’t wait to hear Dami perform it live throughout the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest!
You can watch the full clip of Dami singing below.

Interestingly, Dami Im used to be described as Korean-Australian when the Korean market was being targeted (she was born in Korea). I suspect the marketers want people to assume she is Chinese-Australian!
Perhaps I dont understand the point behind Eurovision - is it more like an Aus idol contest? - Surely there are more high profile and more talented Australian artists than this?! Similar to Guy, this is a bit of a let down.
I didn't think Guy was a let down at all! To place 5th first time out is amazing. Haven't heard Dami's song yet, but a big power ballad always goes down well at Eurovision.
Totally agree Rush - people were so down on Guy, but I thought he did an amazing job! Great song, great singing. He came 5th! Some countries didn't even get a point last year but he came 5th. Power ballads go down real well at eurovision. The little bit of footage and music you can see/hear, sounds like it's ticking all the boxes so far.
Also, what big artist wants to get involved, and possibly rate badly - they don't need it for money or reputation, they have that already. If I was an established big name in music, I wouldn't go near eurovision. England has been pulling out some big music names in the past few years, and they have bombed out embarrassingly for a few years now.
TBH I don't think England's heart is really in it. They sent Englebert Humperdink ffs! I listened to Dami's song, sounds like classic Eurovision to me - only thing missing is a key change!
Well, yes, in some way we could say it's like "Idol". But, the participants do not need to be of a high profile. Eg GS last year was unnecessary choice with so many less known artists but so much better in terms of a beauty of their vocal that is singing ability. JMoboy was a perfect choice for our very first introd to Eurovision. Her voice, her stage performings, her look, everything abut her was perfect. However, people who were in charge of use it all (eg. her outfit) and put it all together and create nice way to her in that big moment for us and her, missed their task. Forever. Anyway, Eurovision is becoming more and more, a political battle. A farce.
