More photos have been taken in the past year globally than in the whole of history put together. Mostly, these photos are rubbish. With our phones/cameras in our hands every waking moment, our standards are very low. Quantity not quality.
But wait.
Meet Dave Engledow.
Father. Photographer. Legend.
Dave, an American-based photographer, has taken a slightly alternative approach to documenting his daughter’s early years. He writes on his Kickstarter page:
“When my daughter Alice Bee was born in 2010, I knew that I wanted to document her life creatively and put together a collection of photos that she would treasure as an adult.”
Dads tend to be slightly more honest parents, so there are no pictures of Dave’s little girl perfectly positioned in front of a gleaming white wall. No, sir. The Engledow family album is filled with shots of Alice screaming her lungs out in her messy room, while her dad reads Twilight, or flipping her dad some pancakes. From a frying pan. Which is hot. And sitting next to her. Atop a worryingly flammable duvet.
That’s not to say that they aren’t spending quality time together. It’s just that those classic pictures of dad helping his little girl learn to ride a bike have been replaced with pictures of them both on the exercise bike.
She’s pedalling, but, hey! One for the album.
Has your dad taken a cracker picture of the two of you together? What’s your favourite family photo? Upload them here!
