Courteney Cox's heartbreaking confession: "I have done things I regret."

After years of media scrutiny over her physical appearance, Courteney Cox has said she now regrets undergoing cosmetic procedures and altering the way she looks.

“I was trying to keep up with getting older and trying to chase that,” the 52-year-old admitted recently, continuing, “Getting older is not the easiest thing. But I have learned lessons.”

Taking part in an upcoming season of Running Wild with Bear Grylls, Cox's confession came while the pair were filming, sitting on a mountaintop in Ireland, with the mother-of-one explaining, "I think there's a pressure to maintain that [looking young] not just because of fame but just being a woman in this business."

The former Friends star continued, "sometimes you find yourself trying and you look at a picture of yourself and go, 'ooh God! I look horrible'.

"I have done things I regret and luckily they're things that dissolve and go away, so that's good because it's not always been my best look," she said, adding finally, "Now I just have a new motto, just let it be."

"One of the things I really love about these journeys," Grylls responds, "is that you really see people as they are. And for what it's worth, the natural you is just amazing and gorgeous and there's light in your eyes, and that's priceless."

Discussing the stratospheric success of Friends, Grylls asked Cox if she had had any idea of the fame that would eventually follow her around after the show began.

"No," Cox replied. "I feel lucky; I don't feel burdened by it. People can be pretty mean, though, now that there's all the social media... If I ever want to feel really bad about myself I just click on one of those Daily Mail comments sections."

But don't be fooled by the majestic scenery and deep chats -- Grylls had Cox scaling cliff faces, poking at maggot-infested testicles and sleeping in the rain as well.
