Connor Cruise is all grown up and getting candid with the media about his obscenely famous adoptive parents Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise.
The 19-year-old, who was just in Australia DJ-ing, insists that he’s close to Mama Nicole despite long-standing rumours that she and the kids don’t speak because SCIENTOLOGY.
In his young-person speak, he’s “solid” with his mummy bear, who’s now married to Keith Urban with two children.
“I love my mum,” he told Woman’s Day magazine.
“I don’t care what people say. I know that me and mum are solid. I love her a lot. My family means everything. Yeah, I love my music, but the family comes before everything else.”
Back in 1993, then-married Nicole and Tom adopted a girl called Isabella. In 1995, they adopted Connor.
In the time since then, their famous parents have put them through a lot: Public divorce, several re-marriages and divorces, and Tom’s notorious affiliation with the Church of Scientology. Or, as most normal people know it, the Church of Crazy.
For years, rumours have circulated that Tom and his Scientology buddies wouldn’t let Connor and his sister Isabella see Nicole, who didn’t follow the church’s beliefs. The kids (no longer kids; totally legit grown-ups now) are also reportedly Scientologists themselves.
The kids haven’t called Nicole Kidman ‘mum’ since around 2007. That’s also the last time they were photographed together.
‘My kids don’t call me mommy, they don’t even call me mom. They call me Nicole, which I hate and tell them off for it,’ she said. She insists that she does keep in contact with Connor and Isabella, despite them choosing to live with Cruise when they split. ‘They live with Tom, which was their choice.’
‘I’d love them to live with us, but what can you do?’
She also shared this parenting advice gem: ‘Everybody has their own path and when they find their path it’s such a relief as a parent.’
