One of Hollywood’s longest-running rumours has just become fact: an off-screen romance between Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford (that’s Princess Leia and Han Solo to Star Wars fans).
Yes, the actress has finally confirmed that a long, long time ago (1976), on a film set far far away (London), she and her co-star had an “intense” three-month affair while filming Star Wars: A New Hope.
Fisher's confession came via extracts of her forthcoming book The Princess Diarist, of which Ford was sent a draft for approval.
According to PEOPLE, she writes of being an "inexperienced" 19-year-old who first slept with the "very handsome" 34-year-old father of two after a birthday party for the film's director, George Lucas.
After that evening, she was reportedly wracked with self-doubt about his level of interest in her.
“I looked over at Harrison. A hero’s face — a few strands of hair fell over his noble, slightly furrowed brow,” she wrote.
“How could you ask such a shining specimen of a man to be satisfied with the likes of me?”
But their tryst continued.
"It was so intense," she told PEOPLE. "It was Leia and Han during the week, Carrie and Harrison on the weekend."
In fact, according to Radar, she writes of their affair becoming so serious that she fantasised about him giving her a "gold band with diamonds (inscribed) 'Carrison'".
However, when filming wrapped, Ford ultimately returned to his wife, Mary Marquardt, from whom he divorced three years later.

You might want to check your maths there - "the now 70 year old" is actually 60. She was 19 in 1976, which was 40 years ago.
