The supermodel responsible for tripling brow makeup sales may be about to set another, more permanent, trend.
Lindsay Lohan has one, Rihanna has one, and now Cara Delevingne – the new face of Chanel – has added a white tattoo to her ink collection.
"Cara got white tattoos," said Keith McCurdy (aka Bang Bang) the celebrity tattoo artist responsible for Cara's latest body art, in an interview with E! News. "She got a dove in white on her finger. She also got 'Breathe Deep' on her bicep."
The super-subtle calligraphy design, Cara's 14th, is deliberately more discreet than say, her finger lion. It will only become visible under UV lights and when she has a tan. White tattoos can completely fade over time, and depending on the person, they last on average five to ten years before they disappear altogether. They're also the easiest tattoo to remove, making them the ideal choice for teenagers and people who don't want to commit to a dolphin tattoo for life.
White tattoos first became popular in 2007, when celebrities like Kate Moss and Lindsay Lohan got inked. Lohan once famously said of her white tattoo - coincidentally, also a reminder to breathe, "I forget to breathe sometimes. This is my favourite one [tattoo]. It's white ink."
Deep.
But with Delevingne's Instagram photo garnering 224,000 likes in two days, we're predicting a white tattoo comeback.
