Two Harvard University students have put their expensive, exclusive education to the best possible use for humanity, and invented CAKE IN A CAN.
Cake. In. A. Can.
It’s basically cake batter in a can that works like whipped cream. But here’s the thing – the batter is microwavable, so if you can’t be bothered waiting for the oven, you can just fill up a mug with batter, stick it in the microwave and be eating fresh cake ONE MINUTE LATER.
Officially called ‘Spray Cake’, it was invented by John McCallum and Brooke Nowakowski, who refined the recipe in their dorm rooms:
The batter comes out of the can pre-risen, which is how the baking time is kept to a minimum. Brooke also told the Boston Globe that Spray Cake is great for portion control, because you “…can simply pull it off the shelf, make one cupcake, then put it back in the fridge and it won’t go bad.”
Or you could just tilt your head back, put the can in your mouth and go for gold. But each to their own.
John and Brooke are currently on the lookout for a manufacturer, so hopefully this little piece of aerosol heaven on earth will reach us ASAP.
In the meantime, here’s a mesmerising video of Spray Cake in action:
How had nobody thought of this sooner?
And if you are enamoured by the idea of things in cans – here are some other things you can get in cans…

I love the idea!... but given the amount of additives and preservatives and all the other gunk that goes into things like this... I'll stick to homemade :)
Ewwww. If it's anything like that cookie mix you used to be able to get from the refrigerated section at the supermarket....yuck!
