A Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan favourite has been arrested today, spending several hours in jail after being charged with damaging property and resisting arrest.
E News! reports Nicholas Brendon, who played Xander- one of Buffy’s best pals on the cult tv show – was detained in Boise, Idaho on Friday night after police received anonymous complaints about his behaviour.
Boise police say the 43-year-old showed “signs of intoxication” and was disturbing hotel patrons around 9:30 pm. He then “refused officers’ commands to stay seated” while they tried to speak with witnesses regarding his behaviour.
His misdemeanours included breaking a decorative dish belonging to the hotel he was staying at, causing them to press charges. This, in addition to his resistance to officer commands, landed him in jail. He was released on $600 bail.
Smashing decorative dishes was par for the course during Brendon’s seven year stint as side-kick and best buddy to everyone’s favourite vampire slayer. Brendon was in every episode except one on the long running show and his ‘everyman’ charm made him popular with fans (and less so with the undead).
