A lovely addition to the family.
Former swim champ Brooke Hanson and her husband, Jared Clarke, have welcomed a baby girl into their family more than three years since the tragic loss of their son, Jack.
Baby Jack died aged nine months old in April 2012 from complications after being born 12 weeks prematurely.
The Olympic gold-medal winner gave birth for the fourth time to Matilda Brooke Clarke – a little sister to her two sons – in August.
The 37-year-old told Woman’s Day she feared the worst when Matilda became tangled in the umbilical cord during delivery.
“For a moment I panicked, frightened we were going to lose another baby, but Jared got me through,” she said.
Minutes later, Hanson was holding her baby girl: “(Jared) was cheering and I was crying, we were hugging and kissing and celebrating.”
She said she and her husband were convinced they were having another boy.
“It really hit me when Jared said to the nurse, ‘Help, this is an emergency – we don’t have any pink’,” she told the magazine.
“She’s our little princess and just the most beautiful surprise.”
We’re wishing Brooke, Jared and their family all the best during this happy time.

I couldn't agree more.
As the mother of a terminally ill child I found his really jarring. I hope after he dies he is not discounted.
Congratulations to what looks like a beautiful loving family.
The baby girl is the little sister to Brookes 3 not 2 sons just because her baby jack passed away doesn't mean he doesn't count...
Well said.
Perhaps this story is written in a bit of a confusing way, as I thought Jack has been counted.
My understanding is she had two sons including Jack, one of whom is alive and well (but not named in the story?), and now they have a little girl, Matilda. So she's given birth to three children in total. Is this right?
It says she's given birth 4 times :-(
She already has two sons alive and well, (as pictured) plus Jack, now she has a daughter, so four in total. Confusing I know.
