1. Teenager told to stop Googling the cancer that killed her.

A teenage girl has died after doctors refused to consider her internet diagnosis.

Doctors initially diagnosed UK teen Bronte Doyne with fibrolamellar hepatocellular carcinoma — an extremely rare type of liver cancer — at the age of 18, but it was believed she was cured of the disease after a few months.

But when symptoms began to re-emerge 11 months later, the Doyne family returned to the doctors with their concerns, the Herald Sun reports.

While some Google searching had lead Bronte to believe her cancer had returned, doctors were dismissive of her claims and she was sent home.

“I got so angry because the doctor was so rude and just shrugged his shoulders. He gave me a sarcastic comment like you can sleep here if you want but they won’t do anything. So I just have to wait for another hospital appointment,” Bronte reportedly wrote in her diary.

Six weeks later, she passed away at age 19.

Bronte’s mother, Lorraine, 50, gave doctors a scathing review in the Nottingham Post.

“Bronte was denied pain relief, referrals were hugely delayed and efforts by her family to gather information and understand Bronte’s prognosis were handled in an evasive and aloof manner,” she said.

“Her fears that her symptoms over the preceding months before she died were cancer-related were proved right.”

The Nottingham University Hospital has apologised for their inaction.

2. Chris Lane’s murderer sentenced to life in prison.

The man found guilty of murdering Australian baseballer, Chris Lane, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

According to Nine News, Luna was a member of the Rollin 90s Crips gang and “randomly selected” Lane — who happened to be out jogging — as his victim.

Chancey Luna was only 16-years-old when he killed Lane in the 2013 drive-by shooting.

A judge found Luna showed no emotion or remorse, and sentenced him to life imprisonment for his crimes.

Lane, 22, was from Melbourne but was living in Oklahoma and attending Oklahoma’s East Central University on a baseball scholarship.

3. Ten-year-old boy fined for having an “extra-marital affair”.

A 10-year-old boy has been convicted of having an extra-marital affair with a woman in her late thirties and fined.

“The 10-year-old was caught having an extramarital affair with a lady from another tribe, which created bad blood between the two tribes,” a police official told AFP.

The tribal court — known as ‘Jirga’ — found the boy guilty and fined his family the equivalent of $8,900.

Under local laws, a man having sex with a female child is statutory rape, but a woman having sex with a male child is not a crime.

According to local police, Jirga courts are illegal and authorities are conducting their own investigation.

4. Accused paedophile Bill Spedding related to convicted murderer and paedophile.

Accused paedophile, Bill Spedding, is related to a man convicted of murder and sexually assaulting a child, a court has heard.

Bill Spedding — a suspect in the case of missing NSW boy, William Tyrell — is the brother-in-law of convicted criminal Jeffrey John Hillsley.

Fairfax Media reports Hillsley is currently serving life in prison for murdering a man and then raping the victim’s 10-year-old daughter.

Today Spedding, 63, applied for bail in the NSW Supreme Court.

He faces five charges relating to the sexual abuse of two young girls in the 1980s.

The court is yet to reach a decision on Spedding’s bail application.

5. The Australian women’s soccer team is still in the running for the World Cup.

The Matildas have drawn with their Swedish rivals and remain in the running for the soccer World Cup.

The Australian Women’s team were famously defeated by Sweden in 2011, knocking them out of the quarter finals.

The Swedish and Australian teams drew 1-1 in their latest match.

Australia will face Brazil on Monday. The winner will proceed to the quarter finals.

6. The world’s top airlines have been named and Qantas has made the cut.

Australian airline Qantas has only just made the list of the world’s top 10 airlines.

It took out the 10th position on the list, which was announced at the World Airline Awards in Paris.

Qatar Airways took out the number one spot, while fellow Australian airline, Virgin Australia came in at number 16.

Traveller reports Qantas also took home a gong for best premium economy food and was named the best airline in the Pacific.
