We must remember them.
It’s exactly one year since more than 200 school girls were abducted in northern Nigeria by Boko Haram militants.
One year since their parents slept soundly in the knowledge that their little girls were safe.
One year since their siblings laughed with them, fought with them, were reassured by them.
On the evening of April 14, 2014, 276 girls were taken from their rural secondary school in Chibok.

Hash tags and peaceful negotiations are not what will save these children, at least not before irreparable damage is done. While we continue to reject any actions that would result in the loss of some innocent lives when dealing with Islamic militants they win and they grow bigger, ultimately raping, torturing and murdering far more innocent people. Which is worse, being directly responsible for the loss of some innocent lives but destroying a truly terrible group or watching an ever increasing number of innocent people die horrible deaths with no end in sight?
Can I ask why there is never any acknowledgement of the young boys that were murdered at the same time the girls were taken? Do girls only matter? These poor boys had their throats slit.
Zaan its not that the boys are forgotten but rather that the girls have still not been returned to their families. As I understand it the boys families had their precious bodies returned to them.
The girls families are still in a state of limbo not knowing whats become of their children.
To use Children and innocents as pawns for political, religious or any means really, is so utterly utterly foul and just plain evil. May all the families of those effected by militants both religious and political (although I think in this instance it is one and the same thing ) find peace and be able to move forward.
