The latest wedding ‘dress’ trend has nothing to do with a dress…

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something… all-in-one?

You’ve seen them on red carpets, in the stores, and now jumpsuits are about to pop up at an unexpected location: weddings.

Yes, a jumpsuit. A bridal jumpsuit.

One of 2014’s hottest bridal trends is the wedding onesie – and we’re not talking about a novelty ‘Mr & Mrs’ matching garment you’d don on the honeymoon. We’re talking lace, plunging necklines and bows down the back, which you wear while exchanging vows.

American retailer, J. Crew recently debuted an ‘Eyelash Lace’ jumpsuit in their 2013/14 bridal collection, Viktor & Rolf designed an unconventional six-piece bridal capsule “Married” that included a jumpsuit, and Temperley Bridal also joined in on the onesie bandwagon, showing a ’70s-inspired jumpsuit in their recent collection.

According to editor-in-chief of Brides magazine, Keijia Minor, it’s not first-time brides who are considering the look.

“We are seeing a lot of destination brides considering the jumpsuit, a lot of brides who are getting married for the second time,” Minor said.

And if you’re a fan of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” you might’ve seen that Kim  Zolciak has already jumped on board this trend, wearing a jumpsuit for one of the three of the looks for her wedding to NFL player Kroy Biermann.

The bridal jumpsuit isn’t the first deviation from the traditional white dress we’ve seen in the last few years. Anne Hathaway and Kaley Cuoco got hitched in pink gowns, winter brides started wearing jumpers, and don’t forget the bridal bikini trend of 2013.

As for what we think? Not every bride wants to wear a dress, especially a poofy, frou-frou dress. It’s your wedding day; jumpsuit or no jumpsuit, wear whatever makes you feel awesome.

I don't think so! Your wedding is a really special event. What other day can you wear a gorgeous white gown without getting strange stares. I think the jumpsuit is far too casual.

90% of wedding dresses i saw in shops were full length and strapless, not the best look on me and i didnt want to wear a 'popular' style that will be dated in 20 years (better than the tacky 80s sleeves, but still not flattering on a lot of women). so i went online and found a beautiful knee length dress with cap sleeves - was perfect for my 5'2 frame. it cost me $300 and i got to show off my fake tanned calves and gorgeous heels ;)

I totally agree, whilst there are some lovely strapless dresses that many brides look great in where is the variety for others who either do not suit them or don't want to spend their whole night pulling their dress up to prevent boobs falling out! Or for the people who just want to wear something else. I am busty and like you I would prefer a cap sleeve it's flattering on me and also I could wear a bra.
I think wedding designers must be stupid because doesn't one if them think her there is some money to be made in making some different dresses for women who don't want to wear strapless. If I had the design skills I would open my own wedding dress shop that exclusively sells every style except for strapless, I'm sure it would be successful because it seems hardly anyone is selling an alternative to strapless. It's like the original Ford car, you can buy any colour you like -as long as it's black! Mind you I can't get too excited about the jumpsuit look either!
