When it comes to breast cancer, talking about it and raising awareness is important every single day of the year.
Why? Because each day, 53 Australians are diagnosed with breast cancer, and eight women lose their lives to the disease. There are only two things that can help us lower those numbers: research, and money for research.
Two young Aussie women talk about how breast cancer has touched their family and why they want everyone to check their breasts. Post continues after video.
But in the month of October, it’s the beauty industry’s turn to get involved, and by extension, our turn to put our purchasing power to good use.
By choosing to buy ‘pink products’ that donate a percentage of sales to the National Breast Cancer Foundation this month, we can use our wallets to push the needle and have a real impact on the lives of women we know and those we don’t.
So, where does one find these pink products? Here are nine excellent beauty products you can pick up that support breast cancer funding.
Because if you’re buying something new anyway, why not make it count?
Need a hand cream? Try the Aveda Limited Edition Hand Relief™ Moisturizing Creme, 150ml for $47.
Aveda hand creams are lush and this big pink tube would look excellent on your desk or bedside table.
The brand is donating US$5 from every product sold to the NBCF, so all you have to do is lather up and walk around smelling like cherries. Yum.
Need a deodorant? Try the Black Chicken Axilla™ Deodorant Paste Original Pink Edition, $18.50.
If you prefer a natural deodorant or have been thinking about giving one a go, now would be the time.
For the month of October, Black Chicken are donating $2 from every jar of their Original and Barrier Booster Sensitive Skin pastes to the NBCF.
Need a moisturiser? Try the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+ Limited Edition, $70.
The Clinique moisturiser in the yellow pump bottle is an absolute staple. The dermatologist-developed moisturising lotion is silky and sinks into the skin for all-day hydration.
$10 from every bottle of their limited edition moisturiser features a cute NBCF keychain that goes towards breast cancer research.
Need a serum? Try the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair with Pink Ribbon Bracelet, 50ml for $152.
Calling anyone who either a) has always wanted to try Estée Lauder's Advanced Night Repair or b) is down to their last precious stuff of the serum, stock up in October.
It's exactly the same formula as the original hydrating, anti-ageing product in the brown bottle, but by buying the glorious hot pink version, 20 per cent of the retail price will be donated to the NBCF.
Need a neck cream? Try the Wrinkles Schminkles Chest Smoothing Kit, $42.
OK, this is not a neck cream. It's better.
Wrinkles Schminkles is a brand that makes silicone pads you wear on your neck and decolletage to diminish the appearance of those fine lines and wrinkles we all wake up with. Thanks, side sleeping. Silicone is also great for healing unwanted scars.
Plus, $5 from the sale of every Wrinkles Schminkles Chest Smoothing Kit will be donated to the NBCF to fund life-changing breast cancer research.
Neep a lipstick? Try the Bobbi Brown Proud To Be Pink Lip Color Duo, $70.
Do you need another lipstick? No. You need two.
Bobbi Brown are donating 20 per cent of the profits from every purchase of their Proud To Be Pink Lip Colour Duo to the NBCF. The limited edition set includes two delicious, creamy, full-coverage lipsticks in a bold, bubble gum pink and a dusty, pinky red.
The pink packaging is also very schmick.

Need a hair dryer? Try the ghd air® by Lulu Guinness Hair Dryer, $199.
Hair giant ghd are donating $10 from the sale of every limited edition ghd X Lulu Guinness hairdryer to the NBCF (they also have a limited edition straightener).
