It begs the question, how much are you willing to pay someone to help you get back into a relationship with an ex-partner? OR, (because I love chaos)… How much is your previous relationship worth?

I personally think that the cost you should pay to get back with your ex should be solely dependent on the way you broke up. Here is my foolproof guide to help you out.

If you drifted apart.

Cost: $100.

The $100 is purely so you can get a solid answer — what you do after that is between your clearly anxious-avoidant ex.

If they ghosted you.

Cost: Minus $500 plus emotional damage tax.

Track them down by yourself and then send them a request to transfer you $500, it’s the least they could do.

If you ended on good terms and are still friends.

Cost: $200.

Look, I said what I said. I clearly need to bring this article to my next therapy appointment.

If they cheated on you.

Cost: $0.

You DO NOT want this person back. You might feel inclined to pay a little something just to hear a reason, but from experience, not knowing is always better… get outta here.

If you both found out that you were related.

Cost: $5.

Personally, I think you should do it for the plot. A cheeky $5 is worth swapping stories about weird family members and saying things like, "Wait... are you also related to creepy Bob?" and then they reply with, "Omg, I'm related to a Bob, and yes he was such a creep!" It's giving fun giggly sleepover vibes.

Then, you can part ways and pretend it never happened. It's definitely worth $5 in my opinion.

If one of you had to move overseas for work.

Cost: $50.

If a tiny bit of water is the only reason you and your ex broke up, then I'm sorry but you deserve a second chance. I can't help myself, I just love love! Then, if the long distance really is too much, you can call it quits, but me and my $50 note are holding out hope for you.

I have two friends who gave me the tiniest feeling that they were not completely over their exes. And because (as mentioned before) I love chaos, I decided to ask them (after a few drinks) how much would they would honestly pay to get their ex back...

"Considering my bank account right now, if I'm guaranteed it would work out, it's great, stay together, and I'd be happy... I would be willing to pay $2,000," Carly* told me.

Jess* had similar feelings, adding: "Honestly, we [her ex] were pretty great together and neither of us wanted it to end. I mean, obviously, he wanted it to end otherwise he wouldn't have broken up with me, but I am living in denial.

"I would be lying if I didn't stop to watch every single TikTok about how I can get my ex back and I reckon if you caught me on a particularly bad day, you'd see me pay a complete stranger up to $1,000 if they were certain that my ex would come back to me."
