The investigation into Brad Pitt's child abuse allegations has concluded.

Hollywood actor Brad Pitt has been cleared of child abuse allegations by authorities.

Entertainment Tonight confirmed the investigation by the Department of Child and Family Services had concluded, clearing the 52-year-old of wrongdoing.

A source told the outlet the investigation had been closed after no validation or proof of abuse had been found.

“It wasn’t clearly founded that there was any abuse by Pitt,” the source said.

A spokesperson for Angelina Jolie said the 41-year-old actress was “relieved” that the probe had ended.

“The job of the DCFS is to make sure the children are in a safe and secure situation. As we said earlier this week, childcare professionals encouraged a legal agreement accepted and signed by both sides that was in the best interest of the children,” the statement read.

“Angelina said from the beginning that she felt she had to take action for the health of the family and is relieved that after their 8-week involvement, the DCFS is now satisfied the safeguards are put in place that will allow the children to heal.”

CNN reported the allegations emerged after an incident on a plane the day before wife Angelina Jolie, 41, filed for divorce.

The incident was said to have involved their 15-year-old son, Maddox.

ET reported a source told them “there was no inappropriate physical contact” between the pair and the matter was simply “a child-parent disagreement.”

News of the investigation into Pitt coming to a close comes amid confusion around the custody battle between he and Jolie.

Jolie this week release a statement announcing an agreement had been reached giving Jolie custody of their six children while Pitt has “therapeutic visits”.

The statement said the legal arrangement was suggested by childcare professionals and was signed by both parties more than a week ago.

However sources from Pitt’s camp say he has applied for joint custody and denies any official agreement has yet been reached.
