Welcome to the latest edition of d**khead boyfriends on the internet.
A woman named Shelby has posted a text message exchange she had with her boyfriend of five months on Twitter.
In the exchange her douche-y boyfriend tells her she’s “getting a beer gut” and “needs to lose” weight.
“I am 120 pounds. I have been for about 5 months,’ Shelby wrote on Twitter.
“My partner said this to me. Am I overreacting for feeling hurt by this? I’m at a loss and just can’t even comprehend how someone who claims to love me can say this.”
During the exchange, Shelby says she’s worried that she has to look a certain way for her boyfriend to like her.
He responds that she should look like she did in all her Instagram photos before he met her.
“That’s how I was introduced to you,” he wrote.
Said douche-y boyfriend then went on to tell Shelby that the “main issue is your gut”.
When Shelby tells him she’s only five pounds heavier than when she met him, he tells her it’s not “like I haven’t told you you’ve been gaining and need to lose anyway”.
Shelby then asks him whether he’s becoming less attracted to her.
“I don’t think so, but I will if it keeps going,” he responds.
“Like I’ve noticed, but it hasn’t turned me off… but you’re definitely getting a beer gut babe.”
Twitter, of course, was not impressed with Shelby’s sh**ty boyfriend.
With the support of the Twitterverse, Shelby then dumped the body shaming d**k weed and hells yes.

His words and opinions were cruel. But putting this on the internet was unnecessary.
In the olden days (before everyone seemed to need constant attention and validation from the universe) we’d just run it past a trusted friend or two or a sister or mother. This whole internet shaming is out of hand. At some point I’m sure someone will be able to sue in this sort of instance - I mean making private conversations public? It needs to end.
Next instalment: I asked my boyfriend if my bum looked fat in these jeans, and he said it did!!! The bastard!!1! He shamed me!!! Burn him at the internet stake!!
Wait, she asked him if he found her less attractive, he gave her an honest answer (which she specifically ASKED FOR), and now he's a "douche" who "shamed" her? Okay then...
Any guy who only wanted to be with me based on what my IG pix look like deserves to be punted (or what I look like in IRL for that matter). “Shallow” and “image-obsessed” is more apt, and who wants to date that (guy or girl)?
They were already going out. It's nice to think that looks don't affect sexual attraction, but in reality they do. I see no reason to publicly castigate the guy in this case - she asked; he replied honestly. That's not a punishable offence. Sure, break up if you want (your choice, your business) - but dragging him on the internet is out of line.
oh, she asked him?
And he forgot to read the notice that said "never agree to her saying she is fat"?
yikes!
He will learn!
