Bobbi Kristina Brown has been taken off life support and is "breathing on her own".

But the family remain divided over Bobbi Kristina’s condition.

Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of late music legend Whitney Houston, has been taken off life support, according to doctors.

Bobbi Kristina, 22, is now breathing unassisted, but her family are releasing conflicting statements about her condition and whether she will recover.

Her father, Bobby Brown, claimed during a Dallas concert on Saturday that his 22-year-old daughter was “awake” and that she was watching him from the DeKalb Medical Center in Decatur, Georgia, but other family members denied this.

On Tuesday, Bobbi Kristina’s grandmother Cissy Houston clarified that while she is now breathing on her own, Bobbi Kristina has suffered “global and irreversible brain damage and remains unresponsive,” in a statement to People magazine.

At odds with this assessment of his daughter’s condition, Bobby Brown’s lawyer released a statement on Monday saying that his daughter’s condition has improved and that she has “opened her eyes”.

Bobby Brown’s wife, Alicia Etheredge-Brown, added in the statement that Brown’s comments during the concert were “an attempt to correct the negative comments he must endure on a daily basis from both family and the public regarding his daughter’s medical condition”.

“He is encouraged by the steps that Bobbi Kristina has made since her hospitalisation on January 31, 2015,” Etheredge-Brown said.

“She has made it out of ICU, opened her eyes, and started a rehabilitation that will be long and hard.”

Bobbi Kristina’s aunt Tina Brown added her two cents in a Facebook post that has since been taken down.

“So many messages, sorry can’t answer them all right now but I will get to them later..just allow me this time with my family,,yes,she woke up and is no longer on life support!!!!!:):)God is good!!thanks for your prayers,,still a process,but she is going to be ok (sic).”

Bobbi Kristina has been in a medically-induced coma since January 31, after she was found unconscious in her bathtub by her fiance, Nick Gordon.

The circumstances were eerily similar to her mother’s death, almost exactly two years before.
