LET US EXPLAIN: What the hell happened between Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna this week.

When it comes to any Kardashian-based drama, things are bound to get confusing.

Firstly because there are just so many of them (Kardashians, and dramas).

Secondly, any conflict inevitably becomes a never-ending spiral of ‘he said, she said’ that’s carefully curated and spread across a wide range of public platforms.

But there’s an ongoing Kardashian saga more confusing than all the others: the relationship between Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna.

The pair have dominated entertainment news headlines for the past week and it’s only natural to be wondering: what the hell is going on?

First, there’s a bit of history between Blac Chyna and the Kardashian Klan that needs to be explained.

Once upon a time, Blac Chyna and Kim Kardashian were close friends. Chyna and her boyfriend Tyga (also father of her son) would hang out with Kim and husband Kanye, flying in jets and sharing topless selfies.

But when Tyga suddenly left Chyna and started dating Kim’s younger sister Kylie (who was then 16), things turned sour between the former best buds.

So when, in January 2016, Blac Chyna started seeing Rob Kardashian, the sisters were less than impressed.

“You can’t help who you love, but he should have told Kylie,” Kim said on Keeping Up With The Kardashians. It is true, the heart wants what it wants.

Just three months later, the pair revealed on Instagram that they were engaged and, on May 6, announced they were expecting their first child.

Rob and Chyna’s daughter, Dream Renée Kardashian, was born in November. A month later, Rob claimed Chyna had left him, sharing images of their empty home on social media.

Despite rumours that the pair had reconciled (fuelled by the fact they’d just filmed the first season of their own reality TV show), things came to a head on July 5, when Rob posted a series of sexually explicit images of Chyna to social media, accusing his ex-fiancé of cheating on him.

Yep, a little illegal thing we like to call image-based abuse.

Despite Instagram removing the images from Rob’s account, he continued to share the images. When Instagram deleted his account, Rob posted the pictures on Twitter.

Whatever you think of the Kardashians, or Blac Chyna, or any other reality stars for that matter, there’s an important issue being raised by this latest ‘drama’: that of image-based abuse.

Rob's explicit posts are in direct violation to California's 'revenge porn' laws, introduced in 2014, which state it is a criminal misdemeanour to intentionally distribute identifiable images of another person's intimate body parts, when the person pictured was under the understanding the images were to remain private.

Chyna has since hired celebrity lawyer Lisa Bloom, and earlier this week, obtained a temporary restraining order against her ex.

If found guilty, 30-year-old Rob could face up to six months in jail and a large fine, while Chyna could also seek "millions upon millions" in damages.

Something tells us that Rob Kardashian "black sheep" status in the Kardashian family is not going away any time soon.
