Domestic violence claims and a restraining order: Billy Ray Cyrus' divorce keeps getting worse.

This famous father, once again, has an achy breaky heart.

On May 22, 2024, Billy Ray Cyrus filed for divorce from his Australian wife Firerose after seven months of marriage.

The country singing duo got married in the previous October, but the 62-year-old country star and 34-year-old singer, whose real name is Johanna Rose Hodges, have already gone their separate ways.

It sounds messy. As messy as a celebrity divorce can get.

And it's getting worse.

In documents obtained by TMZ, Cyrus listed the reasons for the decision, citing irreconcilable differences but also noting "inappropriate marital conduct." Even more intriguing, Cyrus has requested that the court grant him an annulment as he's claimed the marriage was obtained by fraud.

Cyrus has gone as far as to request a temporary restraining order to stop his wife from accessing his money, claiming Firerose put 37 unauthorised charges — totalling more than AUD$146,000 — onto his business American Express card between May 23 and June 7.

He claims his estranged wife overcharged the account without his knowledge, and says she's never had access to the cards, or any of his accounts. The pair didn't file a joint tax return, which he says proved his claim.

But Firerose has fired back.

She insists she was, in fact, allowed to use his credits cards, and has been since 2022. Not only did she have access, she says, but there was no limit to how much she could spend.

She reckons she's simply been maintaining her lifestyle, and sees no problem with continuing to use Cyrus' money for her personal and household expenses, as well as legal fees, while they're still married.

Her lawyers have also returned a chunk of money to the country singer, explaining the firm accidentally charged Firerose US$50,000 instead of US$5,000 — an easy mistake to make...

Firerose launches her own suit, with abuse allegations.

By June 19, Firerose had responded with a divorce filing of her own, where she’s launched a range of allegations against the country singer.

"The accumulation of years of verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse, combined with the fact that Husband has had a direct hand in restricting Wife’s access to income and future opportunities, Wife has developed severe emotional distress from Husband’s actions," the complaint read.

"Wife has had to seek psychological treatment from her therapist for emergency sessions on more than one occasion."

In a counter complaint filed with a Tennessee court, she claimed that her husband’s substance abuse issues had made him "unpredictable and volatile."

"Wife was subjected to Husband’s persistent drug use accompanied with the consumption of marijuana which made Husband unpredictable and volatile towards Wife."

Firerose added that he filed for divorce the day before she was set to undergo a preventative double mastectomy.

In the weeks leading up to the surgery, she claims Cyrus "continuously launched verbal assaults" at her, which placed her "into an emotional and psychological prison."

After Cyrus filed for divorce, and less than 24 hours before Firerose was set to undergo her surgery, she postponed it "indefinitely," as she was relying on Cyrus’s health insurance and his "promises to pay for her surgery."

After filing, the father of Miley Cyrus gave Firerose her marching orders to move out of their shared home. He only gave the Australian singer two days to vacate, adding he would contribute $500 per night ($750 AUD) for ten days before paying Firerose $5,000 per month ($7,500 AUD) for housing for another 90 days, or until the divorce is finalised.

Cyrus and Firerose haven't spoken out publicly about the end of their marriage but they no longer follow each other on Instagram.

Billy Ray and Firerose reconnected when collaborating on music in July 2021, but at the time he was still married to Tish Cyrus. They first met when a teenage Firerose auditioned for the Hannah Montana series so... errr, let that sink in.

"She told me she'd had an audition and I said, 'Well, I'm sure you got the job,'" Billy Ray recalled to People

In April 2022, Tish and Billy Ray confirmed their divorce and by October of that same year, Billy Ray and Firerose announced they were engaged and got married a year later in October 2023.

"10/10/23 will always be the beautiful, joyous day that our two souls united as one in holy matrimony," they wrote in a joint Instagram post at the time. "It was the most perfect, ethereal celebration of love we could have ever imagined."

Billy Ray and Tish were married for more than 28 years. The ex-spouses share five children together: daughters Miley, Noah, and Brandi, and sons Trace and Braison.

In August 2023, Tish got remarried to Dominic Purcell, but her children, Noah and Braison, didn't attend
