LEIGH CAMPBELL: 'I found 9 of the best blazers that can be worn all year round.'

Welcome to the Nothing To Wear Edit where each week we curate the best picks from the topic we spoke about on the podcast. Listen to the full episode here.

On this week’s episode of Nothing To Wear my guest, fashion stylist Penelope Cadzow, listed a blazer as one of the foundation pieces that ties her whole wardrobe together.

I tend to agree, and the humble blazer has come a long way in the past 10 years or so. Once reserved for corporate office wear only, the style was quite cropped and very fitted.

Now, blazers can be worn at the office, over the top of fancy dresses, and thrown on casually for the weekend. There’s a blazer to suit everyone, no matter your personal style.

Here are my current faves that have a fun twist or point of difference.

MVN River Edge Belted Blazer, $179.

A style like this with a built-in belt is great for giving some waist definition but also looks effortless when tied loosely. Khaki is a great neutral that pairs with almost any other colour.

Preview European Linen Relaxed Blazer, $70.

Linen is perfect when you want the sharp cut of a blazer but don't want it to look too corporate. White is wonderful all year round (it’s my favourite colour to wear in winter!), and this style also comes in sage green.

Basque Single Breasted Jacket, $179.95.

Camel or a deep tan colour is always one of my go-to's because it looks lovely with jeans, a white tee and sandals. You can also chuck it over a floral dress, or wear all-black underneath to the office.

Calli Tris Blazer, $159.95.

Varying shades of green — from moss to khaki and olive — are everywhere in suiting right now. I love these colours because they make a statement but are still subtle enough to become a classic. This cut looks beautiful buttoned up with the off-centre closure.

Showpo Michelle Blazer, $109.95.

This blazer comes in six colours and I have two of them. Classic black is a good place to start because it's a slouchy oversized style so won’t look too much like a business suit. The stone colour is also great for neutral looks.

The Fated Elvina Blazer, $159.95.

I love this style because the double-breasted buttons almost make it look like a cropped trench coat. Also available in black, wear it buttoned up with a bra or cami underneath, or open with the sleeves rolled up over a tee or knit.

H&M Tie Belt Blazer, $69.99.

I’ve seen this blazer IRL and it looks so much more expensive than the price tag. The fabric belt is detachable which makes the jacket more versatile, and the in-built shoulder pads offer a nice structured look.

Belle & Bloom Kensington Oversized Coat, $249.95.

A coat that’s cut like a blazer. Genius. Perfect for if you live in a cooler climate or you’re travelling overseas in spring or autumn, it’s like your favourite overcoat but can be worn more months of the year.

ONLY Rome Tailored Blazer, $139.95.

I think this is my favourite of the bunch. The ‘peat’ colour is a really dark grey-brown, so it’s still dressy, and the boxy cut gives off an overall effortless vibe.
