LEIGH CAMPBELL: 'I've tried a lot of supermarket hair products. These are the best 3 under $25.'

You've probably heard about the supermarket gloss treatment that's all over social media right now.

You can get it from Woolies, which is exactly what Kelly McCarren did when she trialled it for a recent episode of You Beauty. She was super impressed with the results, and so was Erin Docherty when she put it to the test.

I've always been an advocate for affordable haircare

Sure, there are plenty of very good premium brands out there making amazing shampoo, conditioner, masks and styling products, but you'd expect them to be excellent when you're paying a lot for them.

It's a misconception that supermarket hair products aren't good. You really can't judge a book by its cover, or in this case, a hair treatment by its price tag.

Speaking of You Beauty, listen to Kelly and Erin's thoughts on the viral hair gloss treatment below.

In reality, the quality and results will come down to the brand, ingredients and suitability for your hair type.

Here are a few of my faves:

Justice 10 Second Hair Miracle, $24.95.

This serum-like liquid warms up when applied through your hair and into your scalp. It's not the type of product you need to leave it for ages for it to work — as the name suggests, by the time you’ve worked it through your hair it's time to rinse. The result is shinier, healthier-feeling hair.

Got2b Guardian Angel Heat Protection Spray, $15.

I grabbed this heat protector on a whim and I am so glad I did. I use it even if I'm just letting my hair air dry — it gives a teeny tiny bit of texture and makes my hair strands feel stronger somehow. And of course, it's an excellent foundation for protecting hair when blow drying or using hot tools.

Toni & Guy Strength Plex Bond Repair Mask, $19.

This mask has got hundreds of really good reviews, and I can back those up. It features 'Plex' technology, which helps repair and nourish the bonds within each hair strand, making damaged hair feel stronger while also protecting against future damage.
