LEIGH CAMPBELL: 'I found a quick and easy root touch-up that lasts for weeks. And it's $13.'

Beauty things that sometimes feel like a chore and you usually can't be bothered doing: shaving your legs, moisturising your body, washing your hair, covering up grey roots...

Well, we come bearing some good news friends. Because we just might've found a solution to make the whole grey root touch-up part a little bit less annoying.

Because in a recent episode of Spendy Savey on the You Beauty podcast, our in-house beauty fairy Leigh Campbell shared the affordable at-home root touch-up that she's loving right now. And it sounds like everything we needed, like, yesterday.

Quick, easy and no mess.

"My savey is boring, but very helpful to me. I have been almost all grey roots for, gosh, 20 years?" Leigh told Kelly McCarren.

And yes, please, tell us more...

"I do get my hair coloured probably four times a year when I go get my hair cut. But otherwise I have to maintain my roots at home because my hair grows really fast, which is good, except for when you don't want it to."

"I usually use the Clairol Root Touch Up but I was at the supermarket a little while ago — and I think this is pretty new. — it's the L'Oréal Paris Magic Retouch Permanent Hair Colour, and I get the shade 'Darkest Brown'. At full price it's $21, but when I bought it at Woolies it was $12.60, so I bought a heap."

Why is it so good? Apparently it's quick and easy to apply without a hundred different steps and lots of mess.

We love quick and easy!

"The reason I love it is that if you want to cover your grays or maintain your roots at home, there's always the developer in the colour. You mix it within this little tube, and then you screw on a brush and apply. It's genius," Leigh said.

"With a lot of the others, there's a separate brush and you have to mix it in a little pot. But this is so easy. You literally shake it up, part your hair and apply. There's only enough to do your part and your hairline but that's all I do, anyway. The back of my head, I don't see it, so it doesn't exist."

"I leave it on for 10 minutes. You chuck that out, get in the shower, wash your hair, and off you go. It's honestly so easy and so great for travel," she added.

"It says it lasts up to four weeks. It is permanent hair colour with 100 per cent grey root coverage, but it will wash out eventually — but that's probably when you need to redo your roots, anyway."

"It actually doesn't have that many shades, though, it's mainly for medium browns to blacks. But that's me, and that's why I'm happy. And it is fantastic."

Brb, raiding Woolworths xx
