And in 2024, it seems like a brand launches a new lip oil every other week - the market has absolutely exploded. So many choices! So many pretty colours!

So, I'm here to help. As a self-confessed lip product addict (I have at least 10 different ones floating around my bag at once) I've tried my fair share of lip oils - and there's a select few that've left a lasting impression.

Here, I've ranked the very best lip oils that've earned a place in my routine. Scroll through to see what topped the list.

9. Revlon Kiss Glow Lip Oil, $21.95.

Okay, but have we tried it? Available in eight different shades, this conditioning lip oil from Revlon is a serious goodie. It offers a lightweight, subtle wash of colour and is the perfect top coat for a lipstick or stain. (Psst... you can grab it on sale for $14 right now).

8. Ciaté London Watermelon Burst Lip Oil, $25.

Both parts hydrating and glossy, the watermelon scent makes it smell almost good enough to eat. A conditioning lip oil combines the hydration of a balm with the shine of a gloss. Infused with conditioning oils, this non-sticky formula will provide lasting hydration and smooth the appearance of dry skin, so your lips are perfectly prepped for lipstick.

7. MCoBeauty Lip Oil Hydrating Treatment, $14.

There's five shades of the Lip Oil Hydrating Treatment (my fave is 'Pink Lady') — and goodness they're just so easy to use. I love how affordable these are and always have one kicking around my handbag to apply over lipstick or wear alone (although, the colour is pretty sheer).

6. Naked Sundays SPF50 Glow + Go Lip Oil, $29.95.

Coming in a bunch of delicious scents/flavours like 'Salted Carmel' (drool), 'Watermelon' and 'Coconut', this new and improved gloss and lip oil combo delivers the perfect amount of colour (a lovely sheer tint) and shine. With ingredients like vitamin C and amino acids, it nourishes your lips while making them look good.

5. Charlotte Tilbury Lip Oil, $55.

A transparent and delightful serum-oil hybrid, this has a bunch of hydrating ingredients (eight, to be exact) for smoother, plumper and softer lips. Ultra-moisturising, it's the product you need if you want the hydration of a balm but the high-shine of a gloss.

4. Australis Lip Glaze, $16.99.

Aussie brand Australis recently extended their Lip Glaze range with four juicy new shades (there's eight shades all up). With ingredients like hyaluronic acids, peptides and jojoba oil, it nourishes dry, chapped lips, while leaving behind a beautiful shiny finish. It's comfy on the lips, non-sticky and the cushiony applicator rivals some of the spendier options. The best part? You can grab it from Priceline for $17.

3. Clarins Lip Comfort Oil, $39.

As any beauty editor will tell you, I've loved these lip oils for a bloody long time — so when Clarins released a revamped version of their iconic lip oils (you can grab 'em at Myer!), I was excited but nervy they were going to be different. But they're just as good - if not even better than before. They're ultra-nourishing and give your lips a lovely light tint. Perfect for prepping lips before lipstick or for accentuating a lip look.

2. Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil, $62.

According to our recent survey with Sephora employees, this iconic lip oil is still one of the most-requested products time and time again (just search #diorlipflowoil on TikTok). Sure, shelling out over 60 bucks on a lip product is steep, but if you're looking for a little hint of luxury in your makeup kit, this is a classic for good reason.

Coming in eight different shades, the formula is long-lasting and hydrating — I love how it fills in lines and gives your lips a full and glassy appearance.

1. Summer Fridays Dream Lip Oil, $45.

I attended an event last week, and four beauty editors pulled this new lip oil from Summer Fridays out of their handbags at the same time. And well, I reckon that's saying something — because when a group of beauty editors can't stop talking about how much they love a product — you know it's good.

With high-shine and a hit of hydration, I love how beautifully non-sticky and non-greasy this formula is. It's one of those products you can wear outside without having to worry about your hair stick to your lips. You know? It comes in four different shades — my favourite is 'Blush Dreams'.
