LEIGH CAMPBELL: 'My favourite Aussie fashion labels you've probably never heard of.'

Welcome to the Nothing To Wear Edit where each week we curate the best picks from the topic we spoke about on the podcast. Listen to the full episode here.

On this week’s episode of Nothing To Wear, I spoke to a delightful young Aussie designer behind the up and coming brand, Iti Clothes.

It got me thinking about how many homegrown designers and fashion brands are out there. There are some huge names in Australian fashion, but I wanted to pull together a list of some lesser known ones. Here are 13 I've found recently that I think deserve some time in the spotlight

Iris & Wool.

Producing knitwear from the highest quality 100 per cent Australian merino wool, the brand recently received the internationally recognised Woolmark Certification. Iris & Wool donate $1 from each sale to the Childhood Cancer Association.

MY PICK:

Nerida Sweater, $349.

Moss The Label.

Created in Sydney near the beaches of Bondi, Moss The Label is all about crafting feminine pieces and featuring beautiful prints with a relaxed approach, perfect for holidays or the casual Aussie lifestyle.

MY PICK:

Filipa Shirt, $249.95.

Cie Cie Robes.

As a bonafide robe addict, I fell in love with these immediately. Made from Oeko-Tex certified organic cotton, they come in a variety of stunning prints. Cotton also means breathability, so not sweaty, and not slippery like some satin robes which come undone easily.

MY PICK:

Palm And Crab Print Robe, $279.

Haon.

Founded in 2022, the shoe brand was born from a desire to develop simple, yet statement footwear. The label promises uncompromising luxury design using only quality textiles and craftsmanship, for shoes you will have forever.

MY PICK:

Clio Slipper, $309

Violet Clark Studio.

Aiming to highlight the light, shade and colour of Australian native plants and flowers, this luxury sleepwear label from Western Australia releases small, limited runs to honour the nature of slow consumption.

MY PICK:

Kaarta Koomba Silk Robe, $279.

Foemina.

Founders Rebecca and Holly wanted to express their love of function infused with a purposeful femininity. Foemina (the latin word for ‘woman’) was born from a desire to create a modern uniform that makes getting dressed joyful and easy.

MY PICK:

Emmie Shirt, $275.

Cremme.

Two ex-fashion editors had a simple vision. After years spent trying to find the perfect tee, they decided to create it themselves. The original Cremme classic t-shirt is unisex, made from mid and heavy-weight organic cotton and features a thick ribbed neckline.

MY PICK:

Classic T-Shirt in Olive, $65.

Soek.

Founded in 2019 on the NSW Central Coast, this sunglass label wanted to combine style, sustainability and affordability. The shades are made from high-quality sustainable materials including recycled plastic, plant-based Castor Seed Oil and 100 per cent sustainable timber from FSC accredited suppliers.

MY PICK:

Milla Khaki Gradient Lens Sunglasses, $89.99.

Kristian Williams.

Brisbane-based label Kristian William is your go-to if you’re after statement items adorned with embellishments. Think bright tropical prints and easy to throw on and go silhouettes in shirts, shorts, pants and dresses.

Avry James Label.

Designed in Melbourne, founder Melanie created the brand to serve as the foundation of any wardrobe. The label’s colour palette has been carefully considered to tie in seamlessly with existing favourites. Clever.

MY PICK:

Maya Coat, $599.

Raef The Label.

Brand founder Grace Hide was inspired to start her own label after working in the fashion industry for several years. She wanted to create multi-purpose, wearable essentials and seasonal on-trend statement pieces.
