Welcome to Mamamia’s Best and Worst.
It’s the time of the week where we debrief as a community after a long, hard week and look forward to the weekend.
If you’re new here, this is how it goes: I tell you the best and worst parts of my week. Then it’s your turn.
Now please, take a seat, and allow me to waffle on about my life.
Best:
This week, I turned 21.
Wooo happy ‘I can get drunk legally in the US’ day to me!
I’ve spent my first week as a 21-year-old alone in a faraway place. You see, I’m a Melbourne native who’s hanging out here in Sydney while I intern for the babes at Mamamia.
So naturally, I’ve been exploring.
Just a gal and her bridge.I did the ‘Toyota jump’ in front of the bridge. I caught the ferry to Manly and realised that I’m not as immune to seasickness as I thought. I had high-tea with my wonderful Mum who came up to visit me over the weekend. I ate the tastiest corn covered in chilli-mayo and copious amounts of parmesan. I ate a cronut that tasted like sugar and calories and all the other great things life has to offer.
In more serious news – I’m willing to call it – Sydney is the home to the best burger I’ve ever eaten, and I’ve eaten a lot of burgers.
Basically, the best thing about my week was food. So it was pretty much a stock-standard seven days for me.
Worst:
Earlier in the week I was forced to pay a visit to the Apple Genius Bar after work due to a piece of misbehaving technology.
I made the trudging journey from the Mamamia offices all the way to the heart of the CBD, filled with positivity and satisfaction after a long working day. The sun was out, my walk was nothing but pleasant. Until a kind lady stopped me to let me know that the rudest bird of all time had decided to do a massive poo on my back, and she thought I should know about it.
While I was in the dark depths of the McDonald’s toilets, scrubbing my favourite white lace shirt with wet toilet paper, I decided it was not the night to take on Apple, I would go and get sushi to console myself instead.
To make matters worse the sushi was terrible. I would go so far as to say inedible.
Sometimes it’s the ones we love who hurt us the most.
So I went to the supermarket, bought a pack of Maltesers and hauled my poo-covered self onto the bus home.
Your turn! Tell us the best and worst of your week.

Just broke off a toxic longstanding friendship. She wanted to sign me up to one of her fledgling half-baked businesses (something health related) and tried to sucker me in by bringing my weight into the sales pitch. I told her that I would never try to make a profit from a mate, told her never to contact me again and then blocked her on every communication channel. Never again. I gave a lot of my time, energy and emotions to this friendship and for what? I got played guys. Life is too short for toxic users. Enjoy your weekend guys.
Best: making my almost 4 year old daughter actually try to draw something other than scribble on her friend's birthday card tonight and watching her produce a picture of a pirate ship, complete with windows sails and pirates. Where the hell did that come from?!
Worst: spending the day in ED on Wed with my just one year old after he decided to go all unconscious on me during a nasty bout of tonsillitis. Poor little dude.
